Apparently a new program for compressing DVDs has been released for download. It claims to be able to compress a 9GB DVD to 1-3GB with no loss of features. They don't mention video quality.
It is called "RatDVD."
Does anyone have any experience with this?

After seeing Episode III in the theatre, I decided to buy the original Star Wars trilogy (they are pretty good movies). Anyway, I went to make back-up copies of them with Rat DVD--I tried using this program exactly as the downloadable instructions stated to do so. It was awful. After about 90 minutes (with only 12% of the first movie being completed) I canceled the operation. I still have not been able to find where that incomplete file is hidden away at, and I've searched my entire system several times. I think it may have caused trouble with my DVD writer as well---right after that I had a lot of trouble copying with my preferred programs. I had to unistall and then re-install the drivers, and then update them for good measure. I would really like to find out where that incomplete troublesome file is--If anybody has any feedback, I would appreciate it.

@Philip
It possibly deleted the file automatically once you cancelled the operation?

I haven't checked this thread in a while. Just out of curiousity, has anybody out there figured out how to use Rat DVD? I so, could you drop a line out there and let the rest of us know how it works? Thanks.
