had a similar problem with one of my housemates laptops, he is from japan but for some reason they gave him a laptop with Chinese installed! he can use it but would find it easier with english installed instead of japanese, after much fiddlign and looking around on the internet it became aparant to us that the easiest way to change the main language for windows is when you actualy install it all!
didnt find a way of changing it aftwerwards
There is an easier way yes :P
Look to the left of your Taskbar if there is an EN or FR etc there right click on it. And goto settings, you can add in languages there.
Or else you can go via the control panel. Regional and Language Options. Languages. Details. This is how to get to the same screen above this way also.
You will need your Windows XP CD though to install the extra languages. Then you can change to whatever one you want.
Oh yeah dont forget to change the Advanced Tab also :P (in Regional and International Options)
