Sony also confirmed that the machine will be backward compatible all the way to the original PlayStation.

Awesome. Has Microsoft said wether or not the 360 will have that same feature?

And I wonder how much those games are gonna run..

BD - anyone theories on whether making a backup of this type will be possible? don't think there are any BD burners on the way any time soon...

They have em in japan I believe.. At least I read that a long long time ago.. and from what I remember they were insanely expensive.. Even for the japanese. I could be mistaken though. If I remember right... It was 300,000 yen.. or somewhere in the neighborhood..

300,000.00 Japan Yen = 2,801.38 United States Dollars
This was a long while back.. When it was just rumored that the ps3 was going to use the blu rays.

The 360 is backwards compatable. I dont see the games costing any more than they are now. No one would be able to afford them.

MS stated that backward compatibility would only apply to major games, not all games...
PS3 and Revolution should be fully backward compatible...
It's undoubtable that Sony did it this time... their console is far stronger than anything else... It was nice to see third parties talk about how strong the ps3 is and later that day say how excited they were to work with Microsoft... quite embarrassing for microsoft... :D
But as a huge nintendo fan I almost cried at their press conference... :( another GBA console??? (as if the original, SP and the fact that the DS can also play it was not enough)
And to top it all, it seems like the revolution can't possibly begin to compete with the PS3 or even the Xbox360... now, if it would be nice and really cheap i'd surely buy it but I ain't gonna buy it for a stationary version of nintendogs or anything of the sort... I hope they know what they are doing... :confused:

I watched the E3 show on G4 tv and must say that I feel that Sony is pulling the ole HYPE!! Using classic Nvidia tech demos to say look we can render this great looking character!
I'm just taking the wait and see stance because as I remember PS2 hype was CG graphics with this awesome machine!The EE is 500x more powerful than a PIII we all saw the truth of that shortly after it was released the Dreamcast had less jaggies and better grahics on some games.
This is just my opinion don't mean i'm right but figured i'd atleast state how I felt about the Sony hype.

I like the controller - and the console looks the most awesome sleek thing ever.

But, I bet they change that controller before launch, as it has been getting a bit of a bad press by the public. However, we don't yet know what it's like, but to me it would appear to fit the contour of the hand very well indeed...

Yeah, I had a hard enough time paying $299 for my first PS2. If this is the case i know alot of people that wont be getting one until they have a price drop, Myself included.

well thats why i say always go for the pc! with 500$ u can install some MEANN hardware inside...

the only thing consoles have over us are the fighting games, god i love those, thats why i bought an xbox :( but everything else is pc>consoles, always was, always will be...

Wel, to be honest, that ain't strictly true. System Stability plays a huge part in how good your PC Gaming can be. (and there's only so much stability you can get from Windows ;) ). That is something a console will always have over a PC.

And maybe the PC graphics and stuff may kick the a*se out of the current consoles, but the next-gen systems will be just as good, if not better than PC gaming IMHO...
