How easy are new lasers to install ??? I've taken my ps2 apart and cleaned the laser, I've even adjusted the pots with a multimeter, that gave me a few more months out of my laser for DVD-R reading but now all I can play is cd-Rom originals and CD-R backups burned at 8X or below. I wanna buy a new laser and replace the old one but I was just wondering how difficult it was to install. (I am eventually going to buy a new PS2, it's just the mod in my old one is still good and I'd like to get a tad more life out of it.)

Usually they can jsut be dropped straight in. Depending on the model some have two blobs of solder on them to prevent ESD which need removing but usually you can drop em straight in an expect good results. Occasionally I have had to adjust the azimuth cog/cogs but only occasionally :)
