Disc won't spin

Hi all, new to PS2 (Xbox man my self)
but i have a problem.
A mate of mine has given me a PS2 to fix?
It starts fine but wont load any games?
Hade it in bits from what i can tell the disk wont spin?
When you put a disc in all it turns is about 2mm?

Can any one tell me what as gone?

PS he striped it down because it took along time to read discs (thort it was muckey lens)

Any help would be appreciated

Ps don't know ver no but serial no is R1059913 model no SCPH-30003

sounds like a weak laser when the laser dies the disk doesnt spin sounds like a replacement laser is in need. You wil need a 400b laser for your v4 console.

khs-400c is also compatible, hell you could even use a open face laser if you flash the eeprom with the laser changer disc.
