i recently got neverwinter nights. i downloaded an installed all the patches. i found the the 1.65 no cd crack. i replaced the nwmain.exe file and when i try to run the game it doesnt run. nothing happens at all. the launcher(with the update, config, options, play meny) closes and then im just staring at my desktop. i check the task manager and i see nwmain.exe sitting there taking up 11,000whateve kb. its there. its doing something, why isnt it running. this is the exact same thing that happened to me when i tried the crack for kotor2. is this a common thing for bioware games, am i doing something wrong. do i have to mount an image file. wut can i possibly do. ive used cracks countless times and this is the only game i cant get to work(including kotor2). this is pissing me off to no end. is there anyone that can help

Does your system specs meet the minimum requirements?

uninstall it, delete the folder, install it, patch it and see if it works with your originals without using a crack

I know his GFX card wont work with KOTOR2 that needs 64mb cards.

But NVN should work with it.

im pretty sure i can run kotor 2 easily. i was able to play half-life 2, far cry and doom 3. those need some decent hardware (save for half-life 2 since its so flexible but i was running it really nicely at medium detail). i know the cracks should work. they should have worked for kotor, they seemed to have worked for everyone except me. im the only one thats ever had a problem like this, its flipping wierd.

get ur hardware right, no way u can run those games with 32mb graphs...

that isn't the question..
the question is this: Are you a pirate?
Here's my reasoning:
If the games run with original CDs they wont have any additional hardware requirements after the patch (duh).

This is not a hardware issue is it?

You are complaining that the games don't work after applying the crack.

If they run with your original CDs then everybody stop talking about hardware.
If they don't then this is the wrong forum.
If you don't have the original CDs then you will be banned.

no no its nothing to do with hardware(look at my second post). no i am not a pirate(arg).

my cds are scratched but they still do work with occational skipping. why question was about the possible reason the game wont run after i apply the cracks.

That's a good question.

Hardware is out of the question. (BAD cdrom drive problems usually are SOLVED by the crack for example)

Did you try the same CDs on a different machine?

EDIT: Just as a thought .. maybe ur using the wrong language crack or wrong version (like US vs UK).
When a crack says 1.0 it means "vanilla" .. no upgrade patches .. nothing..
(bioware games run the autoupdater after install so unplug ur internet)
Sometimes a retail version of the game is 1.04.3 and the crack would still say "1.0" just because 1.0 means "the version that came with the cd"

It is 32mb allowed but has to have T&L, the fx5200 has it, but it may have been disabled or your using microsofts nvidia drivers which dont help things.

LilGuido

wut exactly is T&L and where exactly could i check to see if its disabled?

im using the 66.93 display driver. i just looked at nvidias site and see that they now have v. 71.89. should i get the new driver and see if that solves my problem?

T&L is texture and lighting

And if you had 66.93 drivers installed it should have worked.

It is a strange thing why it wont, but im not sure their min spec of 32mb card is enough, publishers have been known to show wrong specs on a case before.

Hi LilGuido,

HELL NO, don't get the new nVidia Forceware 7x.xx drivers yet! I installed them and was having very strange and scary problems; e.g., Windows crashes with a BSOD when, after having played with a game, I start Cyberlink PowerDVD to play a DVD, or simply launch the Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs window! I got back to the 66.93 drivers and am not experiencing these anymore...

yeah but thats more or so for kotor 2. what about neverwinter nights? i know that doesnt require more than a 32mb. and its the same problem.
