View Full Version : Swap Magic 3.3 and PAL games

Hi

I have this one game that I brought back from Germany when I was there a few weeks ago (I live in Canada). Obviously the game (GT4) is in PAL format while my PS2 (v12) is NTSC.

When I bought the Swap Magic 3.3 disks, the website said I'd be able to play imports. Well, I can play this game, but it only comes up in black in white, and not colour.

Is there anything I can do to make this play in colour? (apply a patch maybe?). I have a DVD writer, so I can easily make an image the game on my PC and then write it onto a DVDR if I need to apply some kind of modification to get it to play in colour.

Do a search on GT4, It wont boot with your current setup.

Uh, no... it boots fine, its just in black and white.

What do you mean "do a search on GT4"? Search for what?

Gran Turismo 4 does NOT boot with swap magic discs. Swap magic disc don't support the booting of Duel Layer (Dvd 9) discs so either

a) You've got a copy thats had stuff ripped out
or
b) You ain't booting GT4

Turns out its actually F1 2004!

(sorry, saw the cars on the cover, thought it was GT4)

Well in a manner your swap magic is doing it's job. You are playing an import. The problem rests with your TV which is Ntsc. The game is being sent to your TV in pal format. There are patches aviable for converting game display formats, or you could go back to germany and buy a TV :D

No need to, If you've got 3.3 then on the START GAME screen, move down to TV type which is set to auto, then force NTSC mode

Your supposed to first use the Search engine located in the tool bar at the top of the page before posting. GT4 right now is the most popular game out there. There's loads of info posted all over this forum as well as others.
