View Full Version : Cannot install games from .MSI files.
Hey guys. I have a problem, i dont know what causes it, but i cannot install any games with the Microsoft installer (msi). ive updated it fully but i cannot figure out whats wrong with this. please help. (BTW i have the original discs of this game)
Errr install it with the setup.exe file?
yes. that is easy for some one to say. i install it normally and just as it reaches 99% it goes into 100% and begins deleting all the files it had previously copied.
Your windows must be corrupt somehow.
What does it say after it deletes the files, it must give some sort of error.
the installer has been interrupted before it can finish. ive checked logs of the games i tried to install, it begins deleting files when it cannot find some entry (i dont know if its a file or a registry key)
PS- Believe me ive tried tech support. they told me to get a new hard drive
man .. tech support sucks..
reinstalling windows (clean install) will usually do the trick.
It is a pain...
but it's better than saying "get a new hard drive"
try reinstalling the windows installer. (off of the microsoft website)
yeah i tried doing that a while ago but it keeps saying i already have the latest one! what a dillema! you cant uninstall the installer, even when its broken, and it wont even let you RE-install it.
huh? GTR "reinstalling windows" not the installshield :S

Just make a directory called anything and copy ALL the files to your harddrive and install from this dir.
Or repair your microsaft installer using this tool
