This game has been asked about on here before, I did a search and found several thread, however not one of them helped 100%, the people who had their problems solved didn't have the same problem as me, and some people didn't state whether they'd got it sorted in the end. So if any of you who have posted about this before fixed this problem, let me know.

Here's the deal - I've got a UK PAL copy of Breath of Fire IV. I've made a backup of it using the 'Game' setting on CloneCD, burning to image first, then to CD-R. It won't work - it loads but then hangs at the Playstation logo.
I've read about the game having anti-mod protection (with the Jap version and some copies of the USA version) so thought the patch I found on megagames might help. It's for the Jap version and PPF-o-matic said the image file was the wrong size, but I tried anyway. It still hangs at the Playstation logo.

So does anyone know anything about the protection on the PAL copy? Or of any other patches available? Or any different settings I could try on any burning program?

Let me know! :)

I'm still having problems with this one guys!
I've tried all kinds of different software and media to back this game up, and it hangs at the PlayStation logo every time.
I've tried using Alcohol 120% on Playstation mode to read and write from the original, and I've tried patching the image with all 3 patches on megagames (there is 1 Japanese patch for mod protection and 2 USA patches for NTSC/PAL selector, one of the USA patches works fine, the other 2 say the image size is incorrect, but i've tried going ahead with it anyway) and in all cases I get the same result - hanging at the logo.

So what could the problem be? My original disk is slightly scuffed, but that shouldn't be a problem if there are no read errors when making the image, right? Could it be the hardware? I've got a v7 PS2 with Magic 3.1 modchip, it has played everything I've ever thrown at it, including all PSX backups on all kinds of media.

I'm at a loss here...
