Copy every StarForce 3 Game, no cracks are required

This is not a Fake, it really works I have tried it with Silent Hunter 3 v1.1 and DTM Race Driver 2 DVD 1.2 both backups works like the original.

1. Install the newest Version of Alcohol 120% (1.9.5 2722)

2. You will need a exact DPM of the original DVD / CD in order to get this you have to uninstall the StarForce 3 drivers and do a reboot. After doing this you have to make an image of the original disc with DPM use precision "High" and Speed 1x for the DPM - don't do anything other at the PC while Alcohol 120% gets the DPM. Alternatively you can make an image without DPM and afterward replace your .MDS with one working from the Internet, in this case no uninstalling of the StarForce 3 drivers is required.

Here are two .MDS files I made, they are working perfectly:

3. Burn a CD/DVD using Alcohol 120% and activate the option "Write RMPS to the media"

5. Disable all IDE CD/DVD Rom devices and insert your backup into a USB 2.0 CD/DVD drive, it will work like the original disc

If you don't have a USB 2.0 drive or if you don't want to disable your IDE drive the best solution is to use such coverters (http://www.bbt-shop.de/index.php?modul=detail&artnr=3303&query=usb%20ide) to connect all your IDE CD/DVD drives through USB 2.0 so you can run you SF 3 backup from all your drives without disableing IDE drives.

This is the only working solution at the moment, if this is to expensive / complex in your oppinion you have to play with your original discs and wait for another solution.

For your information: Starforce Nightmare and Starf*cker wont work on Starforce version 3.4.070 and up. You cant use the mini-image trick or mount the full image. The description given by karlmueller is the only way to get the new Starforce versions working at this moment.

While i havent tried karlmueller's suggestion he/she seem's to have done their home-work and has been a member here @ file-forums for a while, so i belive its true what was posted. However This is the only working solution at the moment Im unsure of that but i have made a note of what was suggested for SF3 and will give it a try when the time is needed. So if your tip wotks for Silent Hunter 3, it should work

This has to do with the limitation of starforce..

I have 2 CD/DVD Drivers..


1 is a USB 2.0 CDRW Drive and 1 is an IDE DVD-R/RW drive..


if you have an IDE drive starforce requires you to use that drive, there is something with the way the starforce drivers work if there is an IDE drive..

for example..

i am unable to play SHOWW2 with the disk inserted into the USB Drive..

i emailed starforce about this and they instructed me that it has to be in the IDE drive if you have one..

it appears that if there are no IDE drives that starforce's protection is not as "aggressive", the reason why you could use disk images and what not if all your IDE driver are disabled and unplugged..

After buying an external 5.25" USB2.0 enclosure and putting my DVD-RW inside it, the game still wouldn't run. In fact, as the game disc was being checked, I got a BSOD. After a hard boot, I noticed these words on my DVD-RW icon in My Computer--"Emulation Needed."

I think it means that my burned DVD is not good enough even with the RMPS emulation turned on via A120%. I did burn with DPM at High Precision and a speed of 1x with the latest Alcohol 120%. I don't know why this is not working. And yes, I tried both disabling the 2nd channel, CD-ROMs, and node using Starforce Nightware as well as physically unplugging the CD-RW I had on the second channel.

Almost the same for me.

After running "sfclean.exe" , i was able to extract DPM info with my NEC3520-A DVD RW(precision high + 1x speed)

Then i've burn it , pysically disabled all my IDE drives, set disable node with sfnightmare , put the NEC3520-A on an external 5 1/4 USB2.0 adapter with RPMS emulation on with alcohol but
it doesn't work :confused: :confused: :eek: :eek:

The authentification process starts, hangs 1/2 minutes and finally gives an error

I have the same problem my drives make DPM with Blindwrite, but in Alcohol it seemsto be random, if it read's it or not.
Maybe the new ALcohol is still buggy?

Blindwrite has a unique way it does things, it reads the topography of a disc with a fine toothbrush (metaphorically ofcourse) and dumps it, but does it like the old fashioned amiga nibble process, it will do each part of the cd bit by bit rather attempting to read whole tracks at once.

Alcohol is different, and tries the tracks at once which sometimes works other times doesnt.

Thx to karmueller, I was able to try to backup my US copy of SCCT with a European mds.

Well, thx karlmueller, but it still didnt' work for me. I still get the msg in My Computer saying that 'Emulation is needed.' This is despite me burning a disc with speeds of 2.4x with RMPS and later on, turning on the RMPS emulation on through A120%. I tried it with both v1.9.5.2722 and v1.9.5.2802.

So, i gave up finally and returned the USB2.0 enclosure I had bought.

Playing with the original DVD sucks. i hope hoodlum or reloaded or vengeance hurrys up and releases a no-dvd.

Created an image as "normal data dvd" under use of alcohol.
Burned it under use of the "rmps"-switch (.mds-file by Karlmueller).
Installed the game via USB-connected Drive.
Patched Blacklist & deactivated my internal ide-drives under use of
Star*uck V0.83 beta.

Doubleclicked SC3-Icon (after rebooting because of installed starforce-driver), hacked in my ORIGINAL and UNIQUE key... starforce disc check intitiated... and - yep - succesful!

Thx 2 Karlmueller. Let´s how long this work-around will work around ;-D

i dont think its true you have to have only USB.

i have 2 sata drives in a raid 0 config and usually 2 ide devices (cdrom and cdrw) if i disconnect the ide cable to those devices i can run toca 2 with no probs.

can someone tell me if the starforce for SCCT will work the same way? i mean on sata drives?

I have my only dvd-rw drive in the comp hooked to a usb port, no other drives other than that in my comp. i burnt the mdf using the original mds, on a old ricoh 2.4x-4x dvd-r disc, i burnt it at 2.4x coz that was the lowest i could go and with RMPS on. RMPS option activated in alcohol emulation options. disabled all virtual drives, did not have daemon or alcohol running. didnt work, wrong key for disc error. the key was the problem, european key.

I then burnt the same mdf file using another mds, a german one, burnt using the same method as the first disc. RMPS option on in alcohol emulation options, all virtual drives disabled and programs closed down. this time it worked, only change was the german mds.

Clean out the register if you install before from IDE drive

get TuneUp Utilities 2004 use there register editing tool noob proof search for ubisoft or spinter cell and delete everything it finds

For sure you know ALOD. He's saying (and in some forums people report the same) that SCSI drives and IDE drives connected by a RAID controller do also work. Have you tested yourself those methods ?

Sure, the .MDF is required, because all the data is in it... But... You can create your own .MDF (without an exact dump oft the .MDS). Simply replace the .MDS alcohol generates with the .MDS posted by KarlMueller.

... oh, I forgot... U need the original disc to create your own .MDF.

What do we do about downloaded software, legal stuff I mean. I bought Lock On Flaming Cliffs and it has SF. I found that I can't copy some music CD's and even some LOMAC DVD's I made of user made movies.

Why would SF disable your drives when the download itself is an executable? You register it w/your serial number and you get a certain number of installs. Also, Flaming Cliffs is not available here in the west on CD.

I installed the Game SSCT, burned it with your DPM-File and used my USB 2.0 Drive...it WORKS!!!
But...all the Videos does not play correctly....they start, hangs for 1-2 sec, plays a bit and then...hangs 1-2sec and so on ->hangs, plays, hangs, plays :mad: The normal Audio works, and I can play the game correctly.
But every Video hangs for 1-2 sec...

Have you an Idea???

I have the IDEtoUSB adapter plug´t in my DVD-Rom and the Games Silent Hunter III and Obscure run´s, but the CD-Key is needed. Ich have typed in...and let´s go Play. :D

But i must unplugt the DVD-Rom after loading the Game. The system hang´s after 5-10 min. I can open Program´s and in the Taskmanager say´s is loading, but my system can´t open the Program....when i unplugt the USB-Cable, then the Program run normal.

But, the best is....the Games is running.....

If you have a problem getting round the "NEEDS EMULATION" part after you have burnt your backup copy of a game with Starforce 3 protection.

Then.....

Plug your external USB writer into a USB 1.1 Port not USB 2.0, this is what I did and it worked, also disable all other IDE cd/DVD using Starforce Nightmare and run the disc. It works!

If you dont have a USB 1.1 Port then simply go into your BIOS settings and look for USB config, select it and disable USB 2.0 (USB Hi Speed) and select USB 1.1 (Full speed). Then Windows picks the port up as USB 1.1 and the game should run fine.

I burnt the latest Codemasters Liverpool club football 2005. PERFECT!! use Karlmuellers guide to burn the disc and then if it says "Needs emulation" on you icon in my computer then do the above.

Cool, thx for the advice. Unfortunately, however, I've already returned my USB2.0 external enclosure to Fry's after Karlmueller's method didn't work for me.

Since SCCT is the only game I have to use the real disc for, I'm gonna just put up with it. :)

Have you scsi-CD-Rom´s?....or look at your Device-Manager...if the CD-Rom´s Activ...or not?.
The last but not least....Unpluggt the cable from the CR-Rom. In starforce Nightmare click only on Disable node.

I have managed to mount a SCCT mini image from an external drive using Deamon tools and SN 1.12 and it worked great...I also managed to mount the image from a ram drive and that also worked fine. Maybe im just lucky..maybe not, couldnt get it to work with a backup DVD on a usb drive. Any others tried to mount from an external drive or Ram drive and had same luck??

Sorry folks, im at work right now, will post when I get home....
Maybe explained wrong, I mounted an image from a ram drive, not mounted in a ram drive. There are several programs out there to create ram drives, just google it.
I use a ram drive for internet cache so it clears when I turn off the computer, after reading several posts about ppl mounting images from external drives using Dm tools & SN 1.12 I thought i would try copying the mini image to the ram drive and mount it from there. The mini image I used was the one from gamecopy world, its the larger image, 13mb unrared I think, could not get it to work with the smaller image on there site. I think it has something to do with starforce checking to see if there is an image being read from an IDE drive when checking the cd..as far as I am aware, it does not check SATA drives and external, so a ram drive would work great I thought..and it did.
ps.. I also turned on emulation in DM tools.
Hope I explained it a bit more, if not, I will check again when I get home form night shift. :eek:

what ram drive software did you use?
i'm trying Superspeed RamDisk, but so far no luck

all i've done is create a 20meg ramdrive and copy the mini image to that.
i renamed the daemon tools bus driver when it installed.
i've enabled all emulation in daemon tools, done the registry pnp bios extension thingy,and renamed the vendor of the virtual drive to usb2.0.
installed awxDTools, closed daemon from the sysem tray, leaving all emulation enabled.
mounted the mini image (from G.B.W.)from the ramdisk, by right clicking on the mds file.
and finally tried to run the game, it sat there for 3 minutes, and then said that the disc key i had entered did not correspond to the disk in the drive, and to make sure i used the correct disc key :(

i know my key works cos i bought the game, so it must be a prob with reading the mini image?

I had installed SH3 from the mds / mdf image of the game, mds is the karlmueller's version. This image resides on a haddisk on an external drive, which is connected via USB. The game installed perfectly, upgraded, disabled my lone cd (whic is primary slave), mounted the image at external drive,

and voila!

:D the game will certainly work, but since i have used the mds of karlmueller, my serial number is rejected! I can test it (and will %99percent succeed), if he could PM me the EMEA version!

Try USB connections, friends, you will prevail!

Is the only trick, to mount the image in from a ramdrive in a virtual drive or do i have to mount the image IN a ram-drive?

Mount the image from a ram drive to a DM tools virtual drive (all emulation on)...you cant mount to a ram drive, hopes this clears it up.
On another note, dont know if somebody knows anyway around this, I took a cracked version of the protection.dll from my NO-CD patched CMR2005 and renamed it udmlib.dll and copied it over the original one in SCCT to try it out. NOw when I start SCCT I get the CM2005 picture trying to check the disk. As far as I can tell I think it bypassed the protection but was unable to start the game...think its cause it try's to point a file or exe in the CMR2005 directory instead. Does anyone know how to edit this to work with SCCT?? Crazy Idea I know, but It may work :). My kids dont understand how to mount an image so a Cd crack would be better for me, I would buy SCCT on D2D just to get a cd free version but you cant activate in Scotland, only america according to there site :(

I tried his method using DT v3.47 with all emulation options set on, all Alcohol 120% virtual drives turned off, and using RAMDisk v1.7. Also, both the CD-drives and Nodes were disabled using StarForce Nightmare v1.12.

Well, it didn't work. I didn't really expect it to so I wasn't disappointed, which is a good thing. :)

I tried the method karlmueller described above and i used his .MDS file to burn my selfmade image (german version).I upgraded to version 1.2 and everything works fine. :D
