Hi all.
I have a v50000 model PS2 with a Messiah Pro v2 MOD chip.
I've made backups of "Playboy - The Mansion" and "Spyro - A Hero's Tale" to Verbatim DVD-R's with DVD Decrypter 3.5.2.0.
With both backups, when I put them in I get the "PlayStation 2" logo come up, it fades out...... The end. The screen just stays black and nothing else happenes.
All my other backups are working fine so I don't think there's anything wrote with the MOD chip or laser.
Has anti MOD protection started coming out for PS2 now? If so, where can I get patches? Have found nothing in consolegamingworld.com or these forums.

Well, no anti-mod exists (and in my opinion never will).

Have you changed your media type for these two games? If not, then you may want to retake the image from your originals and reburn.

What software are you using btw?

Am using DVD Decrypter 3.5.2.0 and no, I'm using the same media I've always used. :(

Try taking another image from your original discs with RecordNow MAX and see what happens. What DVDs are you using btw and how big are these games? (in GBs)?

Verbatim are very strange! Despite everyone on the forum raving about how good they are have tried several times with them and found them hopeless. Very jumpy / skippy if they work at all.

Try using Gitek g04 4X or Traxdata 4X. The later riteks do seem to be a bit unstable but if you can get hold of earlier 4X ones they are excellent.

As for why so many people have sucess with Verbatim....I don't know. Perhaps they use several different dyes and we have the wrong ones. :)

Verbatim DataLife use CMC Dye and are very jumpy and sketchy indeed. The DataLife PLUS discs are using an 8X MCC dye - which is the dogs bollox :)

I always tried the Verbatim Datalife PLUS and have never had sucess with them over several different models of ps2

I agree DataLife suck, but IMHO I have to disagree about the DataLife PLUS sucking.

I like the Data life PLUS cd-r's but get mixed results with the dvd-r. Smaller games work ok but the larger ones skip, jump and sometimes freeze.

Yep. Datalife plus cd-r are the source. My PS2 has no other cdr in it but I can only assume that the dvd-r must come in several different dyes. I had a chat with bighap about this once and he assured me that the verbatim that he was using had ritek dye???

Anyway, Ritek 8X seem to be a bit jumpy for me so found a site still selling 4X and bought 200 of em and these work perfect every time.

Hmm Maybe.
Those I have use an MCC dye and I've used 3 - all over 4.4GB and all have been perfect - infact, I'd say the best results of all my backups :)

I'm with LUFC here,

All my verbatim dvd'rs MCC are the best burns i've got. GTASA has been thrown about by the housemates and STILL neither of my machines have any problem.

I'm starting to wonder if UK MCC's differ slightly.

Quite Possibly.
ADVDInfo shows the dye in my discs to be: MCC 02RG20

Maybe they've recently changed the dye then..
