I tried uninstalling some starforce drivers today and removing some of the software-installed devices for CD protection (in device list), but now NO games will even install. Please help.

If you're having problems with your original CD/DVD, contact the game publisher/manufacturer or see the official game support forum. (Mods: shouldn't this at last be a forum rule?!) Good luck,
Joe

i think it's easy to confuse tech support questions with crack questions especially since everyone here isnt a native speaker (myself included)
I oppose making it a forum rule (for what little that's worth) since it will ban people who are misunderstood

Excuse me? I'm pretty sure you don't know English as well as I do. Plus, this isn't a game-specific question this is pertaining to the installation and running of BACKUPS (WOAH ISN'T THAT IN THE TITLE OF THIS FORUM!? ).

Do you have to same problem when you install them with the original CD/DVD?
True, I don't know English since it is not my first language.
I was replying to Joe's post. Opposing his suggestion to make it a forum rule.
I edited my reply to add his quote.
Please take no offense as I wasn't even talking to (or about) you.
What I meant was "Not everyone is a native speaker" instead of "everyone here isnt a native speaker (myself included)"
Again, Please accept my apologies for not making myself clear that I wasn't talking to you or about you.
LOL the guy didnt read what you said if he did and understood it he would have seen what you tried to say :P
As for the non-installations I cant say myself, unless a windows system file was removed along with the protection files you tried to uninstall and is needed.

well i currently am running a few tests. seems it isnt specific to protection systems, but probably installshield. GT-R works. Far cry doesnt. IL-2 doesnt. Toca race driver 2 doesnt. (and for the sake of argument lets say i own these all)

If you dont know how to reverse what you did, then your time is better spent re-installing Windows.

down boy..
read the rules (rule 7 comes to mind)
You cant blame the guy, you did accuse most people here of not owning their games.
when someone says
(and for the sake of argument lets say i own these all)
they are just inviting the accusations
Because I own the game, I would say, "I own the game" not "let's say I own the game, for the sake of argument"
Don't you agree?
Breaking the rules has no excuse.
You didnt point to an individual so I assumed you were talking to everyone else.
He did say that yes, but perhaps not all of his games are illegal either.
if you want this topic to remain open please stick to the answere of the user okz?
Plus if he was talking about warez he would be banned by now....so....stick to the main question ;)

its ok just trying to clear things up. anyways, does anyone have any info that could be helpful? i have a slight feeling it has something to do with installshield and the way something i did modified it. or it could be one of the programs i used to uninstall the cd protections thats causing the trouble. (i repeat some star force 3 games DO work)
try using starforce cleaner
