I installed republic commando and have tried every no-cd patch I can find. But none of them work. I load the launcher, click to play, it comes up with the republic commando screen; then it begins in full screen, just black. Then it crashes and gives me some error report. I have tried this with both pcgame's no-cd patch and vengeance's. My drivers are all up to date and I have the latest directx, I don't understand what is going on with this. Somebody please help me.

Do a 'search' of the forums as there are now a few threads concerning this game! Start with this (http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=68666) one! ;)

Is the game working, when you use your original cds without a crack?

I was having the same problem and came across the solution at lucasarts' forums. Your problem is not the cracks, it is the game. For some reason the logo movies that play at the beginning are not playing correctly. Here is the fix:

(copied and pasted from a german site)

After Double-Clicking on the Star Wars Republic Commando-Icon and clicking on "Start Game" the game crashes and the desktop comes up.

It seems the videos from nvidia and lucasarts were the problems. So you should do following things:

1. Go to Directory "installDir/GameData/movies/"
2. Copy the files "LECIntro.avi" and "NVIDIAIntro.avi" to another Backup-Directory
3. Delete the both files from the directory "installDir/GameData/movies/"
4. Try to start the game
5. Perhaps this will be fix the problems at startup

Looks more like a codec problem if the AVI files are not playing than a crack problem!

Try one of the codec packages here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx

Hi guys,

If you're having problems with codecs, grab GSpot from http://www.headbands.com/gspot . It can tell you A) what codec a given movie is using, B) what codecs are installed on your system, C) if there are any problems with the codecs installed and D) it tries to play the movie and tell you if something went wrong. Nice software!

Yes I would say your graphics card is the problem! The mmx440's are not much good when it comes to the latest games! ;)

Run the game from the shortcut and click the 'Help' button then click the 'Analyze Your Computer' button, this will run the System Checker and tell you if your card or anything else is compatible with the game.

This game REQUIRES Pixel Shader 1.1, which your card DOES NOT support, so Grumpy is correct, your card is the problem!

BTW, your card has an MX440, not MMX440 GPU :)

don't use the shortcut the game installs, make a new shortcut from the actual no cd that you copy n paste over..ie from the rep commando exe itself

about the 100% loading screen error. im thinking that it has something to do with the video/audio codecs. somehow i managed to get the game working before i had to reformat my drive. after reformating my drive, i had to reinstall it.

problems i encountered:

after installing, i used the patches found here on copyworld.com and applied to it. i started up everything and the screen crashes telling me that the program has crashed and gives me that "send error report" i fixed that problem by uninstall Nimo 8.0 Codec from my system and keeping only Xvid and DivX. i started it up again and it worked.

now the next problem i havent been able to fix just like everyone else here is the 100% loading error at "The Beginning" loading. for me the system freezes and my computer sound systems go blank. before Sp2 was installed, it stated that there was a error with a Device that made the freeze. but i havent figured out what the device is either. i have a Radeon card that does support pixel shading so its not that problem. but its a device problem for me. im still trying to find out.

Hey guys!

I'm new here but came across the forums because I've been looking for a solution to my problem. I cannot run SW:RC. I've tried all 4 cracks/fixed exe's in all sorts of combonations. Each time I get the splash screen followed by "swrcommando.exe has encountered a problem and must be shut down" type message. What's going on here? Any suggestions? Also, could I have backed up my game with the wrong program? I used CD Mate to back the game up, should I have tried something else? let me know, thanks!

WHY! I JUST WANNA PLAY!

Any ideas?

Are your PC specs above the minimum the game requires?

Fla5hp0int
15-04-2005, 01:53
It's a lot over the minimum. I could play the demo perfectly. I doubt it's the problem of my hardware. That error "send, dont send" is getting on my nerves. Maybe it's something about my software in the computer?

DABhand
15-04-2005, 03:11
It could be possibly a newer driver causing conflicts, I know the new Nvidia drivers have been very badly designed, so try using the 61.77 drivers (still get them from nvidia.com from archive)

Fla5hp0int

I've got Radeon 9800 pro, I'll try to download the latest drivers

NO GOOD!
It's not that, it's probably something about the crack.
Maybe service pack is the problem?

Stop arguing and start helping! The crack is definetly the problem. Maybe it's best that I just wait for a new crack to get on the internet. Aw, hell. I'll just play brothers in arms in the meantime. too bad

Nobody is arguing, and be wise on how to ask for help, demanding it like that will result in people not helping.

And I was trying to help, I didnt see your original post about your gfx card. Which was clarified by grumpy.

Ive been talking to a few people and they had problems with onboard sound, they say the game tries by default to enable hardware filtering.

A couple bought a new soundcard to counteract this, others manually changed the settings in directx to set the hardware acceleration to none. (can be done by going to start menu > run > dxdiag)

Step 1: Backup the file Character_Voice.uax in the folder ...\GameData\Sounds\
Step 2: Remove Character_Voice.uax
Step 3: Play it without the original CD :) (I use #4)

I have played Republic Command and I had the same problem. The solution? Apply latest patch (original patch from www.lucasarts.com) and then apply the crack according to the version of the applied patch/game.

I have a 5 years old video card: Asus Geforce 256 DDR 32MB and even that a warning about pixel shader appeared before starting the game, I did play to the end. (well... with some less details and bad lights fx due to the card).

Hope this note help. (my primary language is spanish, thats why can be errors in the writing).

hi , im atros from morocco & i had the same problem
try associate the files in the map directory with the commando exe file in system directory :)!

How to do this ?

just simply double click on one file from Map directory in your game inst folder
u'll have a new window choose "choose a programme from a list" then browse to commado exe file located in system subdirectory of tha game folder

from now to play the game just double click on a map to launch it and play it
or go to mainpanel => so u can start a new party :)
