Well i just got my Swap Magic and Magic Switch v12 and i put in all the three objects in the three slots and i had to hold the B object (one u push in by disc break) with tape so it wouldnt hit the cd. I dont know what to do now, it wont spin with it open and when i take out the one that goes in the hinge and it spins and comes to the front page of SM 3.3. And then i flip it open, and put in a burnt copy and i close the lid and press x but "Not a valid ps2 disc" stays up. I put in an original game at the SM screen and pressed x and it worked. What am i doing wrong?

You need to fiddle with the disc break one mate, Don't push it down too hard.

To be honest none of them even come close to touching the CD so I think you've put one of them in the wrong way round. Check online for a guide bud

Thanks, ive been messing with the disk break one becasue when i put it in it doesnt hold it all the way right and thats when it hits. And i have tried every way. So i just taped the disk break all the way right and left the thing in and it spun without hitting it. I looked at all guides online and did what they said but none are too detailed at all.

The thing about the DVD-r's i have though is that i had good ones but i ran out. And i bought some generic brand and those dont even work on my DVD Players except for on my comp. So i got 50 of this Memorex and it seems to work good and other poeple on these forums have had success with the Memorex's so i dont know.

Memorex are crap, bud :)

I don't mean to come across funny here, but I did remember telling you in one of your first posts here that SM discs are crap... - though I do understand that you can swap the lids back if it breaks down. (Although you've voided the warranty now anyway) :(

How have i voided the warranty? All of the parts put in are easily removable.

Also i havent found any clear instructions on what to do. Do i put in the three objects and the cd is supposed to spin? I dont see the point of the magic switch for the v12.

Could someone tell me how to use the SM 3.3 wit hthe magic switch step by step. Thanks for all the help.

Memfis, We would be glad to help you only most of us here dont use the SM disc to play backups. If Jay_83 cant help you maybe you should try to contact who you purchased the kit from, Or you can pay $20 and join PS2ownz :D. They support SM disc so maybe someone there can help.

Yeah, Jay is a long time member and even though he uses SM he is still respected here (even though his sig says something silly now) so you might pick his brain some.

Hiya,

Not been around recently but cheers for the support Sped :o

Download this PDF Installation Guide and follow the instructions.

http://www.linker4u.com/success/images/item_links_downloads/Magic-Switch-Menu-English-v2.pdf

The two smaller tabs are extremly simple to install, the larger one (Known as the Disc Break) is confusing unless you've done it before.

To cover a few of your questions.......

* Yes the disc is supposed to spin when the tabs are in
* No you can't close the cover when they're in
* Yes you'l get dust inside the unit but easily preventable if you leave a disc in all the time.

The only really advice I can give you other than the guide is that I've found if you're gentle with the disc break and pull it gently towards the front of the console while pushing down it fits easily.

There is a small tab at a right angle on the disc break part, this should sit level with the base of the ps2.
If through messing around you've damaged the larger one let me know cause i've got one spare somewhere.

Thanks for the help, i thought the disc break was the thing that pushes to the right, well they sent me two magic switches so i tried the 2nd one bc the first piece fell out or somehting bc i put it in wrong and it doesnt hit the cd. And i put the big one in the hinge with no problem, but the cd will not spin. Im going to try that mod on Jspot.net and if that doesnt work then i dont know. But does anyone know what it could be?

*Edit* Well i cant find a screwdriver small enough and a knife wont cut it when opening the case so i guess ill have to hold up on that mod.

To be honest my friend, I'd just stick a proper modchip in there. If it was gonna go wrong, it would have by now I'm sure.
