View Full Version : Maxtor HDD
Hi,
I was looking around for a Maxtor HDD as it is one of the recommended brand for PS2, but I saw a review that said that Maxtor was horrible and that it became corrupted easily. Is it true? I think many of you guys have used Maxtor HDD. Have you had any issues with corruption?
Thanks,
i have two maxtor drives no problems so far, had them for about 6 months

i personally have only had a maxtor drive once there not to bad. I like seagate hd because of low noise and ive always had one and it has never ever gone wrong.
but otherhand maxtor drives are pritty cheap and they have had some bad reviews on www.ebuyer.com. As value is concerned i think there pritty good.
I trust you're reading about the DiamondMAX9?
Well, I have the 80GB DiamondMax9 and i've even knocked the PS2 over with it in, and my data has been perfect. There have been no corruptions and the drive is quick, quiet and smooth. I've had it about 3 months now, and i'm more than happy with it :)
I can only guess there was a bad batch out there once...
Hope this helps...

Maxtor's are fine, stay away from Western Digital.

LOL, actually some western digitals will fit the network adapter. I also got a modified adapter with a WD HD running as we speak ;)
Somebody recommended Seagate over Maxtor because it's quieter and more reliable. The only concern I have for Seagate is that I heard it doesn't work with some of the newer network. I was thinking of getting ST3200822A, would it work? I checked out the compatibility list, and most people said it worked although one person said it didn't.

Anybody had experience with this HDD?
Thanks
Will work as a 186gb hard drive if you use HD Loader CD v3 if not it will be a 127gb hard drive. (Quoted from the website). I think you still have to patch the HD for it to detect the space.
