i am waiting to get a crystal chip from gameworlddirect.co.uk but there are a few things i would just like to check before i do.

i was looking over this board and i have looked at other peoples mod installs pictures. i am confident with soldering, i have a small iron, and im going to get some flux and 30g wire, but the question i have is that in the pictures

eg http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/installs/V4_DUO_full2.jpg

there are 2 thicker wires to the chip, are these power wires or something? which wire will i need to buy to install these.

also i would like to know if anybody has a step by step guide as although the diagrams on CC's website are clear enough, it would be great if there is some more detailed help somebody could offer, i know about soldering (well a bit) but not much about a ps2 mobo. any other tips would be really helpful

i have a v4 mobo and i would also like to know where would be a good point to place the chip.

i don't expect somebody to write a guide for me, but a pointer in the right direction would be really great as i am desperate to find out this information so i can be confident i know what im doing and order the chip.

i appreciate any help anyone can give
thanks

The shorter of the 2 is a ground wire. The other is the power supply. 3.3Volt? Not quite sure. But I believe that is what they are.

Crystal uses 3.3v - so you can just use your 30AWG for that. As for the thicker wire, you'll need some 22-18AWG wire (single core sheathed does the job). This can be bought from Maplin.co.uk for less than £1 :)

...just want to check then i get the 30awg for all wiring including the power except some 18-22 for the ground wire ?

is this right?
