Well since the other 2 major forums have this on their front page I thought I would bring it here.

eagley / automan I'm assuming they are one in the same (BTW I dont think this is our automan :) ) has released some interesting work he has performed on the V12's. He has found points on the V12's motherboard that you can install a standard IDE HDD to. Now mind you this wouldnt be a project for just anyone to preform. Its got 40 points and they are fairly small and tight together. As far as I know no one other then eagley has tested this.

Here is a picture of it operation (supposedly)

I have uploaded the diagrams to my site and you can get them by clicking here (http://www.norcalmods.com/graphix/v12/v12-ide-hdd.rar)

There is one concern with this install. The IDE HDD needs to run off 12V and the V12's run off 8.5V. So an additional 12V power supply would need to be used. Or maybe even a modified external HDD case that has its own 12 supply.

I have not attempted this install yet, maybe when I get some time I can put my v12 up for sacrifice.

This is a great find! I think I'll wait and see how other eager modders go before diving in and doing this. Just in case there are some repercussions. :p

I think though, with such tight points that kynar wire should be used and then connected to an IDE socket. A normal IDE cable could then be used. Just my 2c.

Thanks for the install pics anyways Sped :)
