Sorry for the long post but want you to have all the details, please help!

I have tried several different things and just need some advice from the masters here.

My system and software:
1 laptop---hp zv5260us---it states "DVD+R/RW and CD-RW Combo Drive"

1 desktop---hp 763n---it states "DVD write: up to 2.4x, re-write: up to 2.4x, read: up to 8x---CD write: 12x, rewrite: 10x, read: 32x"

both windows xp-up to date

i have the "anydvd" software for copyright installed on both

i have the "1click dvd copy 4.1" software on both

i tried the laptop twice and it went through and showed complete but the disc was empty---i tried once on the desktop and it worked the first time---at least viewing the copied disc on the computer it does---i have not tried a home dvd player yet?

i tried "super dvd copy" on the laptop and "dvd cloner ll-ver. 2.35" and they worked but would cause random glitches on the movie---nowhere in particular---at the last chapters of finding nemo and the beginning chapters of without a paddle----

i did spiderman 2 the last time---it worked properly--so far---on the desktop but gave me the empty disc on the laptop

i am using HP dvd+rw 4.7gb 4x media---has a silver bottom and green top

can anyone tell me what im doing wrong on the laptop? i would rather do my burning with it----sorry for the long post and thanks for any help

Nice post, and very informative. Especially for people trying to help ya. ;)

Anyways you stated you were burning on DVD+RW's. First off RW's are better for just data burning. Not really for making backups of movies. Plus they're hella expensive.

It also sounds like your laptop is only a +R/RW DVD burner. While Im not quite so sure about your Desktop. If at all possible see if either will burn DVD-R discs. If so then get yourself some of them. They're a lot cheaper and work better on more standalones.

Try it on a quality dvd+r. It may be a media issue.

if i do go buy some different media, what do you recommend?

i seen some stuff about the colors on the bottom side making a difference, any details on that?

The more popular media thats the cheapest is Ritek. Only thing is its mostly only found online. Like www.meritline.com and www.supermediastore.com are only couple sites.
