mod chip and import games

Hi,

I'm an avid import gamer, and if I had to pick between import(JP) and US games, I'd pick import. If I installed a mod chip like Matrix Infinity on a US PS2, would be be totally equivalent of having a JP PS2? Would I lose any functionality over a JP PS2? With MI, can you play import backups?

Also, with MI, could I play DVD-R movies? I think you can do this with v9 or 10, but if I have MI in v7, would this work?

ah - oh dear...Yes you can play JAP imports...
No you won't lose functionality...
Yes you can play DVD-R movies in a V7 (even without a mod you can do this)

Actually, I think one area where I MAY lose functionality is online games.

online n still fine here ;)
i have a v7 with messiah 2 and play online with no problems at all some mods do need to be turned off to play online but as far as i am aware the mi or crystal go undetected :D
