Under normal use with mod chip (backups), roughly how long does a laser last? I guess it depends on the version of PS2 as well. Ideally, I'd like know how it would be with vo with DMS3, but I doubt ANYBODY has such data.
:-) So, Anybody has any info on ball park figure for this kind of data with any versions of ps2, could you please kindly share it with me? Just let me know how long your laser lasted after using a mod chip and back ups, or how long you've been using it( if it's still running good)

Thanks

It isn't the chip which limits the lifespan - it's the laser and recordable media, and this has been discussed numerous times before. As for the DMS3 - it's a good chip, but the Infinity or Crystal are much better IMHO :)

I know that the chip isn't directly responsible for the lifespan of laser. I mentioned it only because I wanted the numbers for the case when backups are used, as opposed to lifespan under strict original disc usage.

Thanks Dude i got a old v5 with a Apple pro thats got to be close to 3 years old. Like Lufcfan said, it depends on the media as well as keeping it in a good clean environment.
