sounds exactly like my problem, hanging on the dnas screen..maybe it isnt the apple chip. open ports:3658 tcp internal/external & 6000 udp internal/external all w/ ps2 ip? is this right

I have a new system, and basically an older version of Sygate Home Network (which I believe now is discontinued).

Basically, I used my NVidia LAN instead of the Marvell Yukon and instead of Sygate, I used Windows XP ICS. Works great

yep mind you i dont own a chipped ps2 and all my games are origonals. Plus you need your firewall disabled (Norton and mcafee only!!!)

apparently dnas error 864 is "invalid media", so this means its not the chip right, but i must be screwing up the patch-job?

But the thing is, I never touched my firewall. As soon as I set up my ICS - it worked straight off. It all depends which firewall you have...

yep like i said it depends what firewall you have :) windows firewall does nothing :D

Invalid Disk ID.
Media Error. Bad brand of backup disk. Possible burning speed to high.
ill retry with some patience and a good dvd see if that helps. @least the chips not being detected(i think)

Well, I use PC-Cillin's firewall on Home Network mode and that cuts out any problems with non-connections.

btw Barkroc2, which method do you use to patch your backups - the WinDIP way, or the PS2NFO.com way?

winDIP (1.7 i believe) but i think maybe obtaining the id is the prob. i used my nascar 2005 just now and got all #'s. isnt tere supposed to be a combo of letters and #'s?
my disc id util is dated like august 2003 maybe its no good ?

no that util is fine. Not all games have letters and numbers. Some people believe that by repeatedly hitting X obtains a more accurate key - but I don't know how true that is because I never do this and always get an accurate key :)

I think I read somewhere not so long back though that the Magic III had trouble reading valid IDs off of discs. Maybe other mods of the same type / age do too - I'm not sure? :confused:

its all good! kombat deception (backup disc)plays fine online...i on the other hand suck ass ---0-8 so far. i needed the ports open and a slow burn on decent media. thanx all for the help. really appreciate it. btw i kept hitting "x" on the util disc., and it brought up the same id every time. i can put that id into notepad and keep using the same one for all my burns? -again thanks

hey im having a toruble with deception,i cant get it to go after the loading screen and the spy thingy, and then it just turns back, thanks in advance hope ya can help

No, you can't use that ID for all your burns as each game has a different DNAS code.
