Hi all,
I have 2 questions and I hope they are easy ones:
1. Can you play online with a chipped PS2? Any specifications?
2. How can I install an HDD in my PS2?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Let me retry my question..
Can I play backups online?
Where do i get the info for my chip so I can disable it...
thanks again
Many chips you don't have to disable to play online.
Chips such as the Infinity go undetected through DNAS servers, so you can leave them on and play online with your backups. They have to be DNAS patched however, and this is fairly easy to do (it's finding the software which is the hard part).
As for installing a HDD, you'll need HDLoader/HDAdvance (preferably Loader), and a Network adapter. Push the HDD onto the IDE port on the Network Adapter and then click the Network Adapter onto the PS2 through the Expansion bay. Boot up HDLoader, it will format the HDD and away you go.

I have a SCPH-39001 with serial starting with AU1...
I do not remember what chip was installed. It was installed a couple of years ago. How do I find out which mod chip I have installed in it?
Where do I find the info on how to disable the chip?
Thanks again
Well, look on the underside of the console. Over one of the screw caps there may be a sticker with the mod name on it. If not, you'll have to take the console apart and post a picture of the mod.
From here we can tell you what mod you have and how to disable it :)
Hi,
Sorryto jumo in in the middle.
I'm not sure how to find out what chip is installed, but once you find it out, you can go to web site, and they usually have info on how to disable it.

Does DMS3 chip have similar feature as this one?
Thanks
I think the DMS3 does this as well. :)
Best way to tell is to try and connect to an online game with an original but leave the chip on. If you connect and get past DNAS the answer is yes. If you get a 402 Error, your chip has been detected. Don't worry though if that happens, it isn't like XBOX Live - your console isn't permenantly banned.

Well,
I just disasembled my PS2 and reasembled it. On the chip it is written v1-v7, Magic III.
What is the website to see how to disable it?
Thanks again
According to the website @ www.china-magic.com (http://www.china-magic.com) , you can't :(

Well,
In the third reply, it was said that some don't need to be bypassed. So I just wanted to clarify. Will my chip be detected and I wont be able to play? Or will I be ok to play online.
Please excuse my ignorance, as I am not that good with this stuff.
Thank you so much to all for the help.

Just try it out and see what happens.... If you can't pass it you'll get DNAS error 402.
