I bought a duo the other day from this guy.I asked him what the best modchip for the ps2 was he and he said the duo.So thats what i bought.I got home and noticed that the picture of all games was a little off. Then when I tryed all of my PAL games I noticed that the screen was totally off and there were like these grey lines down the middle. Is it a fake ?!

The Duo chip cannot change the region code so that a PAL game is played in NTSC format. You need a patch or a TV that supports both.

did i mention that the screen was just a little off with NTSC games... barely noticeble but with pal games theirs this really big black space at the top cause the screen is miscenterd.I know the ps2 and everything is fine but im wondering if the modchip is screwed up for pal games ?

Like warlock has already stated, the Duo's do nothing to correct the video out put of the PS2 if your playing a PAL game on an NTSC system. You must have already patched the games to be of the NTSC format otherwise you wouldnt be able to play the game at all, not because the Duo wouldnt boot it bit because you wouldnt be able to visually see the game from the rolling screen. You can patch it to stop the rolling but the off center bit remains in most cases.

Aha, important info, sped! So even patching does not allow to play NTSC games on a PAL console with centered picture using a Duo2SE? Do MI and Crystal (with today´s firmware) correct the signal, so can I play a NTSC game on my PAL console and PAL-only TV with them without any problem and without any patching?

So they put out a PAL signal of a NTSC game on a PAL console without any patch? Amazing! And what does this RGB-cable do that seaney mentioned?

I wanted to add to this point. Most ntsc2pal or pal2ntsc patches come with a "Y" fix that fixes the off center problem. Now, if you patch and everything is fixed except for the off center prob, then more than likely that patch didnt have the "Y" fix. If you read the NFO's of the patches they usually tell you if there is a "Y" fix or not, and if not its usually because the game has its own screen adjustment in the options section.
