View Full Version : PS2 NTSC to PAL Conversion, file format help request
I'm a total novice to PS2 games formats, but have found instructions and utilities on the web to convert my game(s) from NTSC to PAL so they can be played on my PS2. The conversion instructions refer to bin and cue files as being the input to the process, however my game disk contains no files with these extentsions. Can anyone tell me what the 'bin' and 'cue' files are called for the PS2 AceCombat04? Thanks in advance for your help.

I dont know about NTSC to PAL, but I have tried once FIVE seperate PAL to NTSC tools on three seperate PSX games, every single one failed. So I dont know how realiable a PS2 NTSC to PAL tool would be. If you are playing NTSC games on a PAL PS2 though that means they are imports, and that likely have a modchip. Dont most modern ps2 modchips let you force NTSC/PAL output? I also heard that most of the TVs sold in the UK now let you switch between NTSC and PAL signals as well....

I on the other hand have had plenty of success with the generic Pal to Ntsc (or vice versa) patchers. Basically all you do is make an ISO of the game run adrenaline patcher with the pal2ntsc (or vice versa) patches loaded and click yes if it finds any patch locations.

Do you remember which programs you used? And what patchers? I tried them on Vib Ribbon, Megaman battle & Chase, and Puchi Carat, not much luck.

Well when I say "Generic" I mean it may not work for everything. But that also doesnt mean they wont work on anything.
Anyways, the generic patcher Im talking about is Adrenalin patcher with the pal2ntsc/ntsc2pal patch codes. Ive also tried many .ppf patches that were specifically made for the ps2 game I wanted changed. And so on.

Thanks for the feedback, but to proceed with my attempt to convert this game (AceCombat04) from NTSC to PAL I need to know the actual name(s) of the 'bin' and 'cue' files. If there is an experienced s/w tweaker out there can you please enlighten me?

Ummmmm, you create the bin and cue files yourself when you make a backup image of the game disk. Their filenames are whatever you named them.
