Sims2 play problems [Archive]

I have original Sims2 game and just installed the 4 disk but when i start game i get this error
CD/DVD Emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and restart the game?
im running xp home

thats because you may have installed alcohol 120% or daemon tools, you have to disable all virtual units you may have in your pc to run this game.

do i just turn them off or uninstall them?

As far as I know, DaemonTools can just be turned off, but Alcohol needs to be uninstalled.

Also CloneCD-VirtualDrive is detected by such protections.

not uninstall alcohol!
not uninstall demon tools!
just update CLONE CD to version 5.0.2.2 or 5.0.4.5 or uninstall it!

You can also write a simple batch which imports/deletes the setting of it in the registry without a hassle...
