Hi!

i had yesterday the same problem as many other people too. i can´t start the game. then i found a importend message here => Message Link (http://forums.techbg.com/index.php?showtopic=5730&pid=59285&st=0&#entry59285)

"Problem: When loading the game it halts on a blank screen with a Protection Error

Solution: This is caused by the latest version of Nero and some of the codecs this installs on your system.

You should be able to workaround this problem by modifying your CMR 2005 shortcut as follows:

1) Edit your Colin McRae Rally 2005 Windows shortcut (found on the desktop and/or the start menu) by right clicking on it and selecting properties.
2) In the target box, add NOVIDEO after the target entry, so the target looks like this

"C:\Program Files\Codemasters\Colin McRae Rally 2005\CMR5.exe" NOVIDEO

3) Click on OK or Apply and now try running the game again"

i have start the game on the "cmd" under WinXP with the following command.
CMR5.EXE NOVIDEO.
and the game started!!!

You have to use the polish patch! But!! Before installing the polish patch, go to the "DATA" directory in colin2005 directory, and copy the "STRINGS" directory to somewhere. Now you can run the polish patch. After that, you have to copy the "STRINGS" dir, that you copied before, to the original place ("DATA" directory), and when you asked, you have to overwrite every file. Run the game now, and it will work, with english language, and no crashes!!!!

So you ask, what is the problem, with the ulitma-dvd version? Well, there is something **** in the font files. So the plish patch changes the fonts to good version. Thats all pals!

I have tried the above method.
Still crashes.

I can get into Career mode and service area fine after Polish patch installs.
However if I then copy the STRINGS folder over and run it, it's in English again but crashes the game at the service area again.

Any other ideas?

PC84 from the isonewz forum post a lang fix that worked.Here's the link:

right click on the link and choose "save target as" and rename the file to
Whole_E.Lng and save it in your Colin McRae Rally 2005\data\Strings folder and click yes to overwrite the file.

Thanks to PC84 and maybe to unknown others that found the fix.

Bad news :mad: : I've downloaded the "Colin McRae Rally 2005 v1.0 [ALL] Fixed EXE" from GCW. It's absolutely non-working ! A launcher which launches nothing, the car setup bug is here... These guys understands nothing about the Ultima crack, which is good !

Good news :) : I've sent to GCW a working version of this Ultima crack, without the car setup bug, but only for the english and french 1.0 version of CMR5.

Hi, I have read all the posts, and done everything that everyone suggests, plus all the possible combinations of files/folders and Polish patches, but the game won't start. I get the "protection is being fooled" screen, but then nothing, it just stays on the desktop. What am I doing wrong? or is this "crack" NFG?

no no no ! this games works great for me and toca race driver 2 too !
if you can't run this game probably you have a problem with your graphic drivers or something like that ! If you have correctly replaced whole_e.lng AND removed nero video codec the game must works.

hi! mery chrismas to all's what this new crack on GCW? Their dosn't work because it's wrong composition of files to have a working file composition you need the CMR5.exe (they are missing) the protect.dll (they are correct) and the fixed Whole_E.Lng (Located in date string folder, they are not fixed and by car setup will crash)
You are absolutely right :) . I've sent these 3 files to GCW, together with a fourth file (Whole_F.Lng for the french language).

here is the Readme of the package I've sent :

This patch from Ultima is an "AnyCD": when the game is patched, you
must put *any* CD in your CD-DVD reader - an audio CD works very well.
Here is how to do :

First, install the game BUT DO NOT LAUNCH IT !

Second, copy the files CMR5.exe and Protect.dll of this package in
the main folder of the installed game, replacing the existing ones.
Then copy the two files Whole_E.Lng and Whole_F.Lng from the
\Data\Strings folder of this package in the \Data\Strings folder
of the installed game, replacing the existing ones.

The first time you launch the game, it will install some drivers
and reboot. After that, you must give the serial number, put any
CD in your CD-DVD reader, and start the game. That's all.

If you want the game in french language, just switch the two files
Whole_E.Lng and Whole_F.Lng by switching their names.

If you want a faster launch, just modify the name of six files in the
\Data\Videos folder: final.wmv, final_l.wmv, sting.wmv, sting_l.wmv,
twimtbp.wmv and twimtbp_l.wmv.

All the credits and thanks must go to Ultima who made the crack.

PS: if you have a black screen after launching the game, you must
uninstall Nero 6.6 (a video filter hacked with ASProtect, what a pity !).

The Ultima crack + the good language files works for the european version of CMR5 :) , and the mini-image + Starfock works for the european versions of Toca 2 :) . Use the search feature of FileForums and read the threads.

the CMR5.EXE has been added, but most likely this is exactly the same as the original (I can not check this). The filedates of the files which were modified by ULTIMA were all 12-dec-04, the filedate of the CMR5.EXE is 6-oct-04...

I'm playing the french DVD version 1.0, and it's working.
I've got the nero bug, so i launch the EXE with the "novideo" in the shortcut.
I swap the english and french lng, so i can play in french and there is no bug in the car setup...

Il serait plus prudent de désinstaller Nero 6.6 et de réinstaller la 6.3. Ils ont fait une grave faute en passant un filtre vidéo à AsProtect, et tu risques fort d'avoir pas mal d'écrans noirs, pas seulement dans McRae.

But if you want to keep Nero 6.6, here is my advice : download the free Radlight Filter Manager 1.4 at http://www.videohelp.com/download/rlfm_bin1_4.zip or by searching for "Radlight Filter Manager" at Google. Then use it to unregister this filter. ;)

I don't know if this patch is working with your version. If you want to try it, you must first... read the Readme! Install the game but don't launch him. Then make the patch. Then launch the game. If you do that, the protection that will be installed will come from the Ultima's Protect.dll, not from your DVD.

If you have already installed the game, you can try to uninstall it, then use the Starforce remover you will find on the Starforce site (http://www.star-force.com/index.phtml?category=200&type=5) to remove the drivers, then do what the Readme says (install, don't launch, patch, launch and so on).

I set it up as the post says, using the links to the 2 files, AND IT ALL WORKS!
No more fiddling with the DVD.
BUT: What about the Official Patch? Dare I patch it? I suppose if it all goea pear shaped I just re install (AGAIN).

The official patch only changes 3 files :
- cmr5.exe
- protect.dll
- readme patch 1.1.txt

So if you apply the patch and then apply the crack, nothing has changed.
Just forget the patch (you can play without it!)... or wait until ultima give us the updated cmr5.exe and protect.dll

I run cmr5.exe then small window appear where is written this protection is being fooled. The loading bar in this window get to its end (like 100%) and then the window dissappear, thats all :( nothing more.

Do you think you can help me ?

It's just a test. :confused: I'm waiting for italian people to tell me if it works ! Please test carefully the Car Setup section...

Hum, this problem happens in Czech and in Hellas. I think you have switched the languages. This problem happened also to me while testing the other languages files. :eek:

I've solved by making a small tour in Colin McRae with the real english file, and switched thenm the next time. :cool: Colin Mcrae is perhaps a little too patriotic...

Hi! by a small window appear where is written this protection is being fooled, just UNINSTALL Nero 6.6.01 or 6.6.03,or use the codecs video manager tu dissable Nero video decoder, the same meesage appear by french version is written "erreur de protection", with Nero 6.3.1.5 this message will not appear! Sorry for bad english, i have not learn this language in scool. Hope can help someone. :D

I've got the EUROPEAN DVD Version of CMR05. (I would like to play it in german language)

Is there a possibility to play the game without the original dvd (of course i got that one! :cool: ). Eighter with a no-dvd or a any-dvd or cd-crack?

I dont want to download the ULTIMA-DVD-Version with is on the internet, first its illegal and second i got my legal 100% paid copy right here.

PLZ HELP ME!
(im able to play the game meanwhile with the dvd, but without it would be much easier for me)

But while extraction there is a "bad block" and my WINACE stops.
I also downloaded this file again, i the hope that there was an error

i downloaded both above mentioned files, opened the .exe files with the password after that i got 2 new folders A7C and XY5 in both folders there is a .rar-file. i doubleclicked the one front the A7C-folder, my extracting tool "winace" asked my for the 2. part of the file. i filled in the path an clicked "extract" after that i got the error message "bad block - cant extract protect.dll properly".

im dont getting behind this point.

in both folders there is a .rar-file. i doubleclicked the one front the A7C-folder, my extracting tool "winace" asked my for the 2. part of the file. i filled in the path an clicked "extract" after that i got the error message "bad block - cant extract protect.dll properly".
It's a Rar archive. Use WinRar to extract it !!!

If it remains bad, download again.

At first I want to thank you Ma Pomme for your great support on this case!
And all guys at ULTIMA for the sensational working CR***!

Now the game is working without the original DVD!
Everything is fine, i only need to rename the string-files
to get my german speach again, but thats no big deal!

for all who are reading this -i dont have the ULTIMA-Version which is available over emule aso... its a regular paid european version and the any-cd-cr works perfect with it

ps: winace is a multi-tool for .rar, .zip, .ace aso... (but i still dont know what the problem was, but it doesnt matter to me now ;) )

I'VE ALSO TRIED WHIT EMULE BUT NOBODY WANTS TO SHARE IT, I HAVE ADSL, I LEFT IT ALL NIGHT ON AND I DIDN'T RECIVE A SINGLE PERCENT. :mad:

PLEASE SOMEBODY SEND THE FILES TO EMPiRE OR SOMEBODY IN A GCW SERVER SO THAT EVERYBODY CAN EASILY DOWNLOAD THEM.

PLEASE IM VERY SAD AND DISSAPOINTED ABOUT THIS GAME :(

Ok. I've downloaded the no-cd fix ...aaaannddd... I have the same problem mentioned on page 4... the game stops after _fooling_ the protection. Ma Pomme, could you please explain again... cuz I can't get it work
Read the whole thread, all that we can say is here : put away Nero 6.6, use Starforce remover, try a tour with the real english language...

and don't forget to download http://ezshare.de/files-en/240920/SX568.exe.html (password : ULTIMA) to have the 5 languages.

Hi,

First, lot of thanks for ma pomme & ultima, great work !

I have multi language dvdiso, I use crack found on GPC (thks for french translate :D ), I change data/strings/lng, but game doesn't work fine, car setup bug (but not everytime, and not only car setup, for exemple after intro videos, or in many menus), with nero6.3 in my computer

I try to launch it with cmd novideo, but same prob

Is there known probs with "Colin.McRae.Rally.2005.-.PC.-.Multi.-.Langues.-.Image.Alcohol.-.by.Phil.mdf" ?

I am trying to reinstall it

Please continue to enjoy us :)

PS: I know I speak english very well, sorry for that :rolleyes:

edit: version of original protect.dll is 3.4.49.1, like somebody in this post, does it cause troubles to change with 3.4.50 ?

Hi! major, download the 5 language file from Ma Pomme previous thread, Extract with indicated password, open the extracted folder, choose and copie your language file to any place on
C:\**** , rename it to "whole_E.Lng" and overwrite original in the:
C:\Program Files\Codemasters\Colin McRae Rally 2005\Data\String folder .
Play the game in your language without car setup crash's. If after this, you have any crach's, it's due to your computer. have fun sorry for bad english i am french :D

this is to all who are still asking "is it working?":

i have got the european dvd-edition of CMR05 and after downloading and extracting of the 3 mentioned files and after setting the "novideo-option" (because i love my nero 6.6 :D ) the game is working perfect not with no-cd but with any-cd in my dvd-rom!

before asking you should really read this thread one step after another and you will see that this procedure is working fine with the european dvd version of CMR05 (thats the only version i can tell for 100% sure!)
when you are following the mentioned step exactly you will have a working method to play this game without your original dvd! :eek:

so try it and have fun :D

Thanks MaPomme, the italian lng fix work correctly with my european version of colin 05...

I have a strange bug when i must insert the driver's name... The keyboard on the video have 3 strange letter... I don't know where is the problem... Then when i make the first transmission test with Ford Escort Mk1 when i insert the third gear i can't see the red area... Someone have my bug???

I have correct the nero 6.6 problem with starforce drivers update.. It's very simple, download (http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvup.zip), install e reboot... Then the game work correctly...

Hi Akenza, i know the prob with Driver name keybord 3 letters we blink, it's due to the missing POLSKY Fonds in Euro version, i have addet & overwrited the fonds from polish patch on euro version fonts folder, that solve the problem, but Attention this can give some problem's with language we contain carcters so we éèàâ^¨ etc... TO TEST IT MAKE FIRST A ZIP SAVE from your ORIGINAL fonds folder in game directory before overwriting. Have fun, and sorry for my bad english, hope someone anderstand wat i would say. :D
To obtain polish fonds search on Emule "Colin.Mcrae 2005.Polish.fond.for.euro.version.rar"

ich habe mit meiner deutschen version das selbe problem, doch tritt dieser fehler nur im "herausforderung"-menü auf, in der karriere funktioniert es bei mir ohne probleme.

schau mal in dein optionsmenü rein, du kannst da die sprache deines co-piloten wechseln, versuche vielleicht mal das.

i've got the same problem with my german version. but this happens to my only in the callengemode, in the carier-mode there is no problem with the missing commands of the co-driver.

just check your optionsmenu, here you can set the language of your co-driver, maybe just check if everything is set to german.

i copied the ULTIMA crack from GCW and i have dearhivated the .rar ....bur the cm2005.exe wasn`t there!!insted there was a lunch.exe
and it didn`t run the game!!!i installed the game with daemon347 and i run the game with this program after following the steps from ultima crack.It said fooling protection...or something like that and nothing happent!! :confused:

can someone help me please!!! :confused:
tell how to make it work!!!

Hi! phillipssat, no, nothing is mirrored i can proper read all in normal possition and no need a mirror to play, but i play in french with ULTIMA.

The same in german:
nein isch brauche keinen spiegel zum spielen alles ist in normal schrifft aber isch spiele eine französische version mit ULTIMA, hoffe du findest die lösung zu deinem problem, bist bis jetzt der einzige der dieses problem meldet sollte es andauern, benutze ein spiegel um die schilder värend des spiels zu lesen FROHES NEU YAR aus frankreich :D .

Is it possible, that Colin 2005 uses Copyprotection Starforce WITH "FADE" ??

I can run Colin 2005 without problems after using ULTIMA-Patch.

But the Cars License number and Banners are mirror-operated....

Kenn das Problem. Du musst einfach im SG-Ordner die "Options"-Datei löschen. Dabei werden aber alle deine freigeschalteten Autos und Strecken gelöscht. Was auch sein kann ist, dass du so ein Unlock-all-Savegame verwendest. Dann musst du das von GameCopyWorld laden (ein von beiden, weiß aber nich mehr welches), mit dem gings dann auch bei wieder "richtigrum". Frohes neues Jahr!!!

In English:
I know the problem. You have to delete the "Options"-File in the SG-Folder, but then all your unlocked cars and stages will be deleted, too. Another possibility is, that your using a Unlock-all-Savegame. Then have have to use one of the two ones of GameCopyWorld (I don't remember which I loaded, so try both), then the mirror-effect is gone. I wish you all a happy new year!!!

In Italiano:

Installa il gioco poi scambia il nome del file Whole_E.Lng con Whole_I.Lng. Questi file sono nella cartella Data/String. Poi vai nella cartella Data/Sounds/CoDriver e scambia il nome della cartella Italian con Nicky e poi nella cartella Data/Sounds/Count scambia il nome del file cd_ita.big con cd_nicky.big. Poi nelle opzione del gioco selezionare Nicky come copilota.

In English:

Install the game then switch the name of Whole_E.Lng with Whole_I.Lng. This file are in the Data/String folder. Then go in the Data/Sounds/CoDriver folder and switch the name of Italian folder with Nicky folder and then in the Data/Sounds/Count folder switch the name of cd_ita.big with cd_nicky.big. Then in the game options choose Nicky as Codriver.
