hi all. i really need some help.

while attempting my first install (matrix homebrew on v10) i soldered the 3.3v then changed my mind about where to fix the chip so removed it, while doing so i removed the solder from the resistor. then while trying to fix a new connection i put solder onto the legs of the chip thats close by, argh. well i went to maplins to get a de-soldering braid but they didnt have one so i bought a desoldering pump. i tried to remove the solder but caught the 3.3v resistor and broke it off!

comedy of errors, i know.

could anyone give me some advice on how to solder the resistor back, i have a little problem with my soldering iron aswell, i doesnt get hot enough at the tip to melt the solder.

am i stuffed or will i have a working ps2 by xmas for when i visit my mother-in-law. :(

ur pritty screwed unless your good at soldering. an easier way to do it attach 2 bit of wire t each ends and run it through that. If your strugling with installing a modchip i suggest u send it to a pro.

Yes, you'll be sorry if you dont.

As for the iron not getting hot, is your bit covered in like black crusty stuff? If so, get a file and lightly scrape it off. Then, clean the tip with some tip cleaner or a glob of solder, tin the tip, and your iron should now get plenty hot enough for you to do the job... :)

Best thing to do is look at some mod diagrams for other chips which use a 3.3v power source and see what points they use :)
