There is now a proper crack for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, made by hoodlum (i assume its a no-cd crack, but correct me if i'm wrong)

I haven't been able to find it yet though (i guess it just became available) so if anyone has it, please upload it to gamecopyworld asap as it would be much appreciated (at least by me, if not by many other people who are looking for one and/or having issues with the mini-image)

Stupid question I know but you are putting the vampire.dll file into the installdir\Vampire\dlls folder as well as installing the vampire.exe to the main directory yes?

I've spoken to some who say the patched game works fine with the original Hoodlum crack,and others who say that installing the 1.2 patch itself caused problems on other games they had installed not just Bloodlines.So I'm leaving my copy unpatched for the present.
Got a feeling this won't be the last patch we see for this otherwise good game in the near future...

I've just made a clean installation of Bloodlines, then used the official v1.2 update, and have noted the modification dates and sizes of the 2 files that are included in the no-cd crack. here's the results:

Original files (from clean installation)
vampire.exe - 7th Oct 2004 05:12, 1,291,215 bytes
vampire.dll - 14th Oct 2004 19:06, 9,139,197 bytes

Modified files (from official v1.2 patch)
vampire.exe - 7th Oct 2004 05:12, 1,291,215 bytes
vampire.dll - 2nd Dec 2004 16:13, 9,094,142 bytes


As you can see, the vampire.exe file is not changed at all by the patch. therefore the one in the no-cd crack is fine and should not need changing.

However the vampire.dll file *is* changed, and so even if the no-cd crack still works with v1.2, we need a new version of the crack making from the patched .dll file so that the updates are included. (otherwise by applying the crack you are essentially removing some of the fixes that the v1.2 patch has done)

Sure this will be done soon. It's making the crack in the first place that's the hard work that needs waiting for. As it's been done once, cracking the patched .dll should be pretty easy.

As Grumpy said, the crack .dll file overwrites any changes made by the official patch. In addition to fixing the boat crash-to-desktop bug, there's some additional dialogue that I'd love to see (having Isaac acknowledge the completion of the Gargoyle quest, for example), and some other big fiixes.

The game is still playable (with the major workaround in the console for the Leopold bug, of course) without the patch, but it would be nifty to have both the convenience of the NO-CD crack and the latest patch!

i put the crack into the game folder along with the dll file but when i run the game my monitor blacks out and gives me an "an out of range" message. i can hear the game music in the background though as it loads up, just cant see anything cause of the monitor problem. anyone have any ideas.

Go to the Run box under after clicking the Start button on Windows. Type dxdiag.exe and when it comes up, go to More Help and click Override. When that pops up, type in a refresh rate your monitor can handle (like 60) and lock that in.

The out of range thing happens because the game tries to jump to some ****tastic refresh rate. The above will fix that.

i've made a .dll file from the patched v1.2 vampire.dll that allows me to play the game without a CD.

however i'm not sure if this file incorporates all of the patch fixes.
so can someone help me test it?

im looking for someone who has had an issue with Bloodlines that has been fixed with the v1.2 patch - ie. you have to have had a problem with v1.0 and the v1.0 crack, the problem was fixed by the v1.2 patch (but obviously you need to run from the disks), and after applying the v1.0 no cd crack again the problem returns.

so i need you to install the game, patch to v1.2, apply the no-cd crack using the .exe from the v1.0 hoodlum release, and the .dll provided by me, then try the game to ensure it works properly, and the problem is fixed.

the .dll is 8.67mb, and even when rared its 3.99mb, so too big to attach to this post. but if you PM me we can arrange a method of transfer, MSN would be good because then we can discuss the results.

looking forward to testing this file, hope i can provide a v1.2 no-cd solution

hmm.. i just installed bloodlines and added the hoodlum no-cd files to their directorys, but when i run the game itself, my computer loses sound and can no longer play any sound file until i reboot my comp, i get an error stating my sound card no longer works or is in use. is it just an incompatibility between the game and asus's c-media or is it a problem in the crack?

You must unlock your vertex bugger before to run the game. If it's already locked, the game cannot lock it. Under Windows XP, vertex buggers must always stay unlocked. :eek:

I'm running VMB with the no cd crack and i patched teh game with v 1.2 and it runs. no cd, no mini image; just my hardrive.

what im having a problem with is the game crashes as i get on the boat after i rescue Johanson, and activision claims to have fixed that problem with this patch.

I messed up one of my files, its in the Bin folder, its called "launcher.dll" and i saw somewhere to change it to an .exe file but that completely messed everything up and now i cant turn it back into an Apllication Extension file, can someone please help me or post your launcher.dll file on the forum or email it to me at jordanwalker22. Reinstalling the game should help you with both launcher.dll and getting back to the original, unpatched version.

the dll file is different to the v1.0 hoodlum file, however i can not vouch that it is indeed a cracked 1.2 dll as i havent suffered from any problems that the 1.2 patch fixed so i cant tell the difference.

i will upload this to gamecopyworld so people can try it. please post feedback on whether it works or not

There is an unofficial patch (fixes the society of leopold crash) that works fine with the hoodlum v1.0 NoCD crack. Goto www.filefront.com, type "Vampire Bloodlines" in the search for edit box and click GO. In the list that follows you'll find :

dan_upright's Bloodlines Patch v1.1 ..... Tested with Hoodlum V1.0 NoCD

Predy, the no-CD patch you're referring to is probably a fake, a renamed copy of the no-CD patch for version 1.0. If you need a _reliable_ source for no-CD patches, always check GCW first!

i copied vampire bloodlines, burnt it to a cd and then installed it off the burnt cd and it worked as if it was the original. no crack, no nocd, no nothing. cool. ;)

i have pioneer io9 burner, i use tdk cdr's and i used gameclone program. i used to use gamesxcopy and found it was fine until they were closed down. i then bought gameclone from jambalaya and it caters for more copy protected games. i have exclusively used gamclone, my friend uses alcohol and i find that i have slightly better performance from gameclone with my set up. the only games i haven't been ale to copy are those without the nocd crack yet. if i have had a problem copying a game the nocd crack usually solves the problem. :)

The delay between submitting a file and it appearing on the GCW news page depends on how busy Empire is. ;) It's usually one or two days, sometimes only hours.

Just recently my step-dad bought this game, and it works fine on his comp, but then again he has the cd. I installed it on mine and got the crack, but it says please insert cd, but then lets me in the game. When I make a new game, it says please insert cd then crashes, how do I fix this problem?

new "un-official" update patch released..V1.7

"Description
This is an unofficial patch for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
by Troika Games. It is build upon Dan Upright's great unofficial oma
patches, whose readme is included with some minor corrections added.

In order to install this patch, extract this archive into your game folder keeping the
directory structure intact and backup any files being overwritten if
you want to remove it later.

This patch attempts to fix many bugs and improve other things but no
guarantees are made, since not everything could be tested. It can be
installed easily on top of the official 1.2 patch from Troika Games.

Confirmations of fixes marked with a "*" would be nice, also reports
of any other problems, glitches and non-crashing bugs that have been
missed up until now.

1.7 Patch Info:

Lessened the sway of zoomed weapons and balanced with magnification.
Replaced some male hunters at the Leopold Society with female ones.
Corrected bug that made it possible to get Ox's harvest quest twice.
Restored original funny answers when not being able to read a tome.
Fixed bug of Heather not appearing at the haven for female vampires.
Restored original models for the low and high grade computer tomes.
Made Yukie give you the Ra blade instead of taking it from Chastity.
Corrected wrong name of the cafe and other locations and map names.
Provided 1 xp for keeping Zhao alive and modified quest accordingly.
Fixed feat conditions in Muddy bum dialogue and a missing variable.
Awarded 1 xp for killing Bruno Giovanni and changed log accordingly.
Corrected wrong subtitles speaker name for Vandal and other people.
Restored many mistyped intimidate options and some answers to Pisha."

i doubt a crack will be made for this but the patch looks worth trying...

Just use the v1.2 crack :D The v1.7 do not update the exe file...

you can get the latest version of the unofficial patch (which is 2.2 at the moment) e.g. here:
http://www.3dgamers.com/games/vampirebloodlines/downloads/

and yes, the unofficial patches don't change the exe file, so you should be able to run the game fine without the CD by first applying the official 1.2 patch, then the 1.2 NOCD patch, then the latest unofficial patch.
