Hej Guys!
Got a big Problem! Iīve bought a PSX2 with a Magic3 chip in it! First nothing (Original PS2 games, DVDīs) want to boot so Iīve adjustet the laser and so on... So the original games started without any problems!
But the Backed Up Games still dont works on it, so iīve looked to the chip and iīve seen that one wire isnt soldered on the chip! I donīt know if it was unsoldered before iīve unscrewed my ps2?! So i tried to run the games (ORIGINAL) again but now the "RESET" and "EJECT" buttons dont work! The red light on the Reset button is lighting..but when I push it nothing works
Could it be that i damaged this little, thin, silver wire that is connected with the cover?? If yes what could i do,... can I order something, somewhere? Any alternatives? Or could I throw away my PS2??
Sorry for my bad english, and thx for help!

hey dude,
Yeah sounds like you have damaged the eject reset cable. But try pushing ing that ribbon cable a bit more into the motherboard socket. If you have a digi cam and take a pic that can always be a great help.
Also this reset wire ur saying on ur magic 3 does it connect to anything make sure it isnt grounding.

Could it be, that the reset/eject buttons arenīt working because the unsoldered wire @ the chip?? However, today iīll try to fix it :p
It couldnīt come bader or?
Got the instructions of the Magic3 (installation) so i will look which wire isnīt fixed... and then Iīll fix it!!!
And I looked in the WWW for the reset/eject ribbon, .. there are many sites wich develope this shi* but the most of them are not awailable for V3
THX for ya help ?seany? youīre my buddy :)

hey,
v3 cable isnt ribbon is it? its plug in ports if i can remember. Right make sure u didnt snag the wire and get a multi meter and test the connections on the motherboard to see if there is current flowing into the ps2.

Hej,
Got this type in my Playstation http://www.ps2reality.net/uploads/documentos/IwAnTv5/image009.jpg donīt know whats the difference between cable and ribben (U know my English :( )
So i will check now what is a multimeter? How can I get out if the flow is right? SO could it be that the reset/eject buttons arenīt working because the wire @ the chip?
thx 4 ya help
/////
EDIT: So checked what a Multimeter is and Hell Yeah, iīve got a Multimeter! I use this to adjust the laser! ... So , and how can I check now if the flow is right? I mean this Multimeter will show it in Ohmīs or? How many Ohmīs must it have? And where should I put the + side and the - side???
Sad to say but if its a v3 its probably not worth fixing. If you had to adjust the laser to read originals then it probably wont read dvd-r media period.

yeah, if you can fix it just sell it on ebay. right get a cable there be very cheap. But look along to see if u did snag it.
Right set your multimeter to read volts! its the V symbol on it and just check the psu to see if there is any current flowing.
might be worth it, its up to you.

I had a PS2 here once that someone had destroyed the Power/Eject ribbon and what I did was look through my junk room of parts and I found a ribbon from a printer that was twice as long and five times as wide. The contacts were the exact same size so I just cut the ribbon to the right width and plugged it in the PS2, it worked great. Beats spending money and waiting a week for the replacement part!

Yeah, but i ainīt got an old printer?! (What type of Printer was this? *lol*)
So I soldered on the less wire on my chip! And I controlled my eject/reset ribbon again , I saw that there is a contact damaged.. so i soldered on it *gg* It works fine, .. hmm.. the one and only problem is now, that the red light (reset) didnīt light, itīs everytime green *gg* So i tried the PSX if itīs working and what was the result??? : If I start booting up my playstation it everytime resets itself *lol* So iīve had to unsolder the ribbon and solder it again exactlier! *gg*

I think it was from an Epson 580 (?) Not too sure as I rip the guts out of these junkers and trash all the cases to save space. Or was it from a flatbed scanner?! I dont remember for sure!

well it sounds like half the battle is won! what i would do now is resoder the reset wire on the modchip, and buy a new eject reset wire.
