View Full Version : NTSC games on PAL XBOX?
Hello,
I want to buy an Xbox game from the US as it is currently unavaliable here in Australia.
I have a PAL modded Xbox so I know I will be able to run the game, however I am not sure that my TV is NTSC compatible.
It is only about a year old and is an LG widescreen.
Will I have any problems?
Is there anything I can do about this?
Also, is there any difference in quality when playing a NTSC game on a pal Xbox or vise-versa?
All help is appreciated.

Well, you will have to consult the manual to see what video formats your TV can work with. OR search the net about your TV I guess. If it is a year old, then it probably does work with the ntsc video format.
If you have a dvd-burner, you can always backup the game and apply an ntsc-pal patch.
Maybe RMS can help you a little more, since he seems to know a lot more about pal/ntsc formats.
Do I need to apply the NTSC/PAL patch before the game will play back on my xbox?
What does the patch do?
Where can I get it?

The patch changes NTSC only games to either play in pal, or prompt a pal/ntsc choice before it starts. But none of that would be needed if your tv supports ntsc.
So where do I get these patches from?
The game I am buying is Star Wars KOTOR II: Sith Lords
Is there also any small ntsc movie file or something that I can download to chech whether or not my TV plays back NTSC?
Thanks again for your help.

Why not just try the game?
Tyler!
Have not got it yet, want to be sure when it arrives.

Well, just go to IGN.com and download the longest .wmv preview you can find. Then, use a free trial version of winDVD to change it into an ntsc dvd. Burn it with something like Nero and play it. I guess if it plays, the game should be fine.
