View Full Version : Getting a mod chip soon
Im getting a mod chip soon and i need it to play all types of PS2 backups of my originals. And i was looking to get the apple pro installed for 60 or i wasnt sure if i should get the $100 matrix infinity installed. Id rather only spend 60 bc the ps2 already has disc read errors which i plan to fix and is kind of old but i was wondering where it is said the Apple pro cannot play multi region dvds, does that mean it cant play dvds i have backed up where i have disabled the region and made them workable in all regions? And is there anything bad i should know about the apple?

Personally dude, I wouldn't bother with the Apple. Not b/c of how the chip is and such, but I'd save myself the trouble and just go with a good chip that everyone recommends. While getting it installed, I'd have the laser fixed as well. My opinion. I don't know about the apple chip though, it might be good. Someone care to take a stab?

here is the list of best mods
1-2. DMS3/Matrix Infinity
3-4. Duo-apple
any of these mods are great.. i wud suggest dms3/matrix only if u want the special features. the duo and apple series chips and great reliable chips with few extras but they do what they say (boot backups) and they do it well!
If you are having disc read errors with your originals I wouldn't waste your money on modding it. It takes the laser even more work to play backups. Try cleaning or adjusting the laser so it will play originals with no problems then sell it and buy a new ps2 to mod or get a premod.

Theres nothing wrong with an apple pro modchip is there biggy! :)
its a very reliable piece of equipment and works perfectly. Multi region is the only downside of this modchip but theres always another way. You can buy a cd called Dvd region X this will play any region dvd u throw at it. While you are getting the ps2 installed you may want to ask the installer to put a new laser unit in. or as biggy says sell it on ebayusz and get a BRAND! New ps2 chipped :)

Eh, like I said I don't really know the specs of the Apple. But if these guys say it's alright, then go for it! Though I'd either fix or get a new PS2 first...
I agree with bighap. If it gives disc read errors with originals then it probably wont read dvd-r media and isnt worth modding. Sell it and buy a newer console to install the mod in or purchase a premodded console.
