View Full Version : Problem with Disc Read Errors
 I seem to have problems with disc read errors lately. Before I never really had problems with my back-ups. Metal Gear Solid 3 seems to work fine. Games like Karaoke Revolution 3 seems to be picky for some reason(sometime it works, sometimes i get the disc read error). then there is Def Jam: FFNY which worked the first time i popped it in, but every other time it just says Disc Read Error. I'm not sure why it does that... Does anyone have a clue why?
I use Decrypter for the program, and I believe I have a messiah 2 chip.

Maybe itīs because you youse crap media! Just use Ritek G04, Verbatim .. (more @ Sticky Infos) If the Game runs good, it doesnīt mean that itīs good for the laser! (so hope your laser wasnīt shot)
or
Adjust the lense! There ary many HOW-TO-ADJUST files on the www!
Crap Media!!! I use Ritek G04's. I used them ever since I joined File Forums. I believe I got the advice from one of the Theads to use it. anyways I don't think it's the media since I recently backed up Metal Gear Solid 3 and it works pretty much all of the time(since I played it).

Hmm..maybe then you just got to adjust the lense to 600 Ohmīs !
You can test it: Put in a CD-R based game and if its run better then the DVD-Rīs then you must adjust the lense.
If not .. pray to god :p

I was going to say it doesn't have to be bad media... I for one have been having read errors ONLY with the GS2 and Region-X discs. Very strange but it's goes on everytime now. So I can't boot using the old knife trick. (hey, what can I say) :D
Oh, and btw, give this a go........ HERE (http://www.g4techtv.com/xplay/features/45797/PlayStation_2_Disc_Read_Error_Fix.html)

I tried it... Bullshi* happened! Nothing.. the same like before?! Damn..
man....when u all gonna learn that u don't have to start tweakin pots when media wont read!!!!
1. a thorough clean of the laser an i don't mean one of those crap cleanin discs, i mean q-tips and cleanin alcohol.
2. b4 u even look at the pot do a laser height cal. Search for this on the forum as have done very deep explanation on this several times.
If both of these fail, and u using good media, and u burnin it slowly without any other major apps or processes runnin on yr machine.....and it isn't one of the games highlighted recently as bad for backin up due to constant streamin from the disc durin gameplay.....THEN look at adjustin the DVD laser pot but measure an initial resistance and then do not turn it down by more than ten percent of the original resistance or u just gonna end up wiv a wasted laser in a month or so.
Hope this helps. PM me for more info
