do u have a clue as to where the modchips will be sold?

Bushwick2002
17-11-2004, 23:52
well I'm not sure if we are allow to post places to buy modchips on this forum but currently there is no website to preorder it, if you see a website claiming to be selling gamecube modchips, its a scam. i'm not sure if the new release of the loader will delay the modchip or not. only time will tell :)

im sure the modchip wil be coming out just in time for the holidays as a great stocking stuffer for us gamecube owners....haha. and could u tell me as to why the loader would delay the modchip?

looks like my source was right, its called Viper GC.

-Viper GC is the world's first amateur coding module for NGC. The onboard flash memory allows users to boot Homebrew applications, loaders or BIOS'.
-A high speed parallel port programmer is provided along with the FFC cable to connect to the Viper GC main module. An intuitive PC application has been authored to facilitate easy transfer of BIOS', loaders or Homebrew applications to the flash memory.
-Viper Gc is based around the Actel ProAsic Plus FPGA, providing flexibility and security to ensure that the user gets the product they ordered, not a cheap clone.
-The viper GC's tailored PC application will enable users to transfer code via their PC Parallel port to the module's flash memory.
-We're sure that the recent Homebrew developments (like GC-Linux) on GC will take advantage of the Viper GC's ability to run code directly from flash memory, instead of the current BroadBand Adaptor/Phantasy Star Online + Loader solution, leading to rapid development of the GC Scene.
-The Viper GC has just 4 wires to solder and two connectors which could assume control of the lid sensor switch, should the appropriate commands be included in a third party BIOS release.
-Viper GC is more than a BIOS replacement, it offers the unique possibility through special hardware commands, to run the original BIOS after the user's loader or Homebrew BIOS has been executed.
-The Viper GC programmer includes a logic I.C. to increase transfer speeds and a DIP switch to enable or disable the module. We're sure that the GC scene will now explode into action with a plethora of new achievements and devlopments certain to make even those who do not have a GC currently, rush out and buy one

What's with the parallel port??? Who thought up that idea? Shouldn't take more than a week to transfer files.

Now where do we stuff the hard drive?

right when i heard there was a modchip coming out i thought we could just pop in our backuped copies into the gamecube and off we go...but i guess i didnt really read the fine print..haha.. the fine print that the modchip doesnt allow to use the backups w/o the barcode on them..oh well... i gues its just a matter of time.

Awww that still sucks. Ill just ignore this scene till a real chip comes out with a real solution to playing backups.

yup..im sure it wont play backups...but remember that that thread was in regards to theviper gc chip and is not the same chip being developed by the something brothers :). the brothers are almost done or are still trying to hack the infamous barcode deal thingy so that their chip will be able to play backups with ease

Quall999
06-12-2004, 10:08
If it doesn't play the backups without the barcodes, then I don't see how people will be able to create homebrewn code and play it. If they are executed the same way, I don't see why backups would be any different. I haven't looked much at GC at all, but if the protection is in the game itself, I am sure patches will be created.

frequency
06-12-2004, 12:11
im sure they are in final stages in figuring out how to trick the gc laser into that it has already read the barcode thats not there from the backups in order for it to start reading the game

Quall999
10-12-2004, 07:59
A new update about the chip says that it can load hacked or original bios. So I am guessing that future hacked bios will have a barcode bypass in them.

frequency
10-12-2004, 08:18
it just keeps getting better and better by the week..haha. so im guessing it wont be long till they have that modchip 100% up and running

seaneyb2003
10-12-2004, 08:30
yeah just need a clever ass programer 2 sort out the code for it

Quall999
10-12-2004, 12:48
Also, to the comment about the statement of transfering files through a serial cable. If homebrew code could be executed, I see no reason why some kind of client that takes advantage of the BBA, similar to xbox, wouldn't be released. Isn't that the way people backup games now? Through a bba I mean.
