i've recently backed up my san andreas, the game works fine but every so often i get a black screen saying 'problem reading san andreas disc' and then it'll start playing again - i've tried backing this up a couple of times on different discs and different software but each one does the same - any ideas? this can be really frustrating i can be in the middle of doing something then this screen will come up and next i know i've been busted!!!!please help.

i'm using a magic slide (not the best option i know but it works for me), v8 and i'm using 4x dvd-r's ritek g04 discs - i've also got some new 8x dvd-r L23 dye discs but it's doing the same on these too. tried using alcohol 120%, dvd decryter and clone. totally confused as everything else i've done using the same method is fine except for this one and shark tale

Im playin mine off the hdd, and it can hang. Ive driven so fast everything looks like a blur. Im lovin this.

BTW every GTA for the ps2 has done this to pretty much every ps2 console Ive known. Its because GTA games generally read the disk on the fly. So your best bet is off of a hdd nowadays.

Hey, I'm just curious why you couldn't get it to work. Was it an allignment issue? Was the jumper set correctly? Despite the rumors that you need a 40GB or higher, I got my old 30GB Western Digital to work, with a little modification to the Network Adapter.

If you buy nitro everything goes to a blur really fast ^^
you can buy nitro and stuff in the southeast (if you have done the lowrider mission)

I got similar problems. I backed mine up with G05 (Memorex). I don't think I'll use these as a permanent solution, only until I can get my hands on some Taiyo Yuden DVDRs to try out.... anyone know where I can get some in Canada? (Cause I sure as hell don't want to pay for customs and taxes at the border! )
Also what type of dye should I look for in Taiyo Yuden DVDRs? I'm checking out a pack of 100 DVD-R TY02 or TYG02 (Rima.com). Is this any good? (This will be a break from Riteks I guess!)
