No file extension

I have downloaded some DC files that need to be joined (i.e.....001,.002, etc). After I join them, there is no file extension associated with the combined file. I'm really stuck on what I need to do next. Do I need to try to convert to a .cdi file? I have been using 'VBJoiner' to combine the individual files.
