Hi all first of all ive read a thread here that the new v12 dosent read dvd-r very well , on the box it says it reads dvdrw - and + has anybody tried RW.
Also with the console having a flip lid why couldn't we use the swap magic discs as boot discs we would just need a spring or something like the old ps1s surely this would work and then if the console screws up its still under warrenty :D .
Please post your findings regarding any of the above

i got one of the new slimline ps2`s on friday, it plays all dvd-r and +r as well as +rw no problems. i like your thinking about a boot disc similar to the old playstation, all we need is someone to try it and let us know

Job done just took the little bastard apart to test placed tape over both switches that tell the console the lid is closed , put it back together 5 mins in all.
Inserted dvd swap magic disc closed lid turn it on disc loaded opened lid inserted backup closed lid pressed x and game booted , this method should also work with dvd region x's and action replay discs i cant see why not i will have to test when i get my hands on one. :D
It's still swap sh*t

Thats a crock. Duo2's are about $20 each and if you do the install yourself or have someone do it for you then your still only paying tops another $40-50. Plus when your done you dont have to worry about other crap like SM fixes or patches.
Tyler!
Swap Magic is ****er :p
Anyway, SM discs suck - you'll have problens with certain titles. At the end of the day, that is why mods are so good - just zero hassle, pop in and boot up :D

So the mod wasn't possible without opening the case right?
Doesn't sound like it to me:
'Put it all back together'
Wait wait... You say you got it to play DVD+-R, how'd you do it? Swap disc, chip?
Something isn't right here.

I am sure he is referring to a dvd movie backup.
