View Full Version : GTA San Andreas Backup - Need Help!
Ok, it looks like they've finally started copy-protecting PS2 games against MOD-chips. I've been trying to make a backup of my new GTA San Andreas DVD, but when I put the copy into my PS2 the "PlayStation 2" logo comes up, fades to black and that's all she wrote. Nothing happens after that.
I've made 3 DVD coasters so far; one with RecordNow Max 4.5, one with Nero 6 and one with Alcohol 120%. They all do the same thing.
I have the Messiah 2 Pro Modchip.
Can anyone help me?????

I did a perfect backup using dvddecrypter. I created the image file with dvddecrypter, and then burnt it with dvddecrypter at 2 speed.
Hope that helps :)

I used Alcohol 120 without a problem..
I used it both to make the image and burn it.
Worked fine with the Matrix Infinity.
I haven't flashed the chip with any newer bios either.
I know a lot of other people have backed it up just fine so I think the problem may be on your end.
I'd say try and find another Messiah 2 owner and see if they have had any troubles with it.

Nope... Its not the chip at fault.
Works fine on my Messiah 2.

Ok. I've never used DVD Decryter before but I've just downloaded and installed it now to give it a try. Are there any settings I need to change at all? Or should all the default settings do it?
And what mode should I be using: IFO or ISO?
messiah 2 here also , np at all with the game , still using old primo dvd

no just leave them as it is, and then when you burn it. burn the disc at the lowest speed you can. I also had a problem backing up GTA SA and Terminator 3, but dvddecrypter sorted it out for me :)
but be patient. it will take about 27 minutes to burn it, but it will work.
Sorry yes use iso read, then iso write.
try the newest version of alcohol maybe i burned mine with alcohol and it plays fine on a duo2

Thank you so much! DVD Decrypter did the trick. I think that will now become my backup software of choice. Thanks. :)

No probs here, bought the game and did a backup as soon as I got it home, Pentium II 450 Mhz, 384 mb ram, Pioneer DVR 108, Matrix Infinity v1.36 installed in a v9 PS2, 20 minutes to create the ISO and 13 minutes to burn it using DVD Decrypter :)

4.19gb by my count..
If that question was to find out if it was dual layer its not.
There was a pretty large thread on that subject alone.
But it will fit on one DVD-R
