I'm about to flash right now.

is it possible to put the 1.3 upgrade AND other homebrew applications on one cd-r? will it conflict with the install of the upgrade? or will the ps2 know what to do?
theres no point in wasting all that space for a likke 200kb manager and not making use of the extra space. might as well fill it with everything ps2 related?

Thats somewhat false. It depends on the ps2 and its laser.

Yeah, My V7 handles RWs perfectly well :)

Although, I use quality Verb rewriteable media, and I don't use them for prolonged console use... Strictly testing purposes only :)

Its just your ps2. Not all ps2's will read cdrw's. But some will.
