v 7 !! new laser needed

hello all help needed have a v 7 on route its giving out disc read errors so am asuming it needs a new laser !! have checked out prices for a laser khs-400c $54.95 but there is a drive with laser for $64.95 would it be easier for me just to replace the whole drive or could i fit the laser easy enough do i need to set laser height or what please advise a newbie before i ruin a ps2 lol

Hold off until you check out that V7 drive. Every single V7 I’ve had here with RE’s was from dirt or COG alignment. It’s possible the laser is bad but I’ve never seen one go bad yet!

Hopefully it will be a v7 on the inside. I've dealt with one dirtbag that sold me a v7 deck. However all the parts inside were v4.
