so ritek dvd+r should work with street fighter anniversary the swap disk because all my other back ups work perfectly

Swap Magics suck man. A real modchip will boot anything no problems and no swapping.

Exactly! Direct boot on backups is way better than the ole swaparoo.
I use the Duo chip myself and it works perfect for my backups.
S.W.A.P. = (Still Worthless And Proven).
Take TD's advice and invest in a real chip. You wont be sorry!
If anything you will cut back on tylenol cause you will not have anymore headaches from swap problems. ;)

Spot on there, especially the bit about S.W.A.P. ;)

Not sure if u figured it out yet, but for swap magic u need to load the CD disc first, then another cd in the middle, then the dvd disc, then the dvd backup.

(I know, cause I do it :P)

Go to www.swapmagicfix.com and it'll tell ya how ;)

Just use your original. It is only one game after all and it's only £19.99 if u damage the disc :p

Jesus, and people think all that to boot a backup is acceptable??? ;)

sl33p
03-10-2004, 17:20
LOL, c'mon lufcfan, its simple! you just put in one cd disc then wait for it to load then take out put in another disc to let it do its thing, then at the right time you swap it with more discs, using the disc specified by the onloine instructions all the while waiting to swap it again with a dvd then finally swapping it the simple last time with the actual back up! you only have to press eject about 16 times and a contrller pad combination of O,X,X, Slecet, Start, Up, Left, and finally Square! simple! forget modchips!

Just figured I'd pop in on this one....

Not even all soldered chips will boot all games..

My Apple-modded v7 from Lik-sang.com will not boot a backup of this game.

It will also not boot backups of the following :
Splinter Cell ( Both Games )
True Crime
Midway Arcade Treasures ( I think this was one )

And a few ( as in 2-3 ) other games.

These were all burned on Ritek G04's using a Pioneer A05 and either Nero/Alcohol 120/RecordnowMax

Yeah but a Duo2 SE will boot any game out there. And its hella cheap too. Something like $20 USD.

Lets see.....
PS2 $150 USD
Swap Magic $20 USD
Total $170 USD

-- OR --

PS2 with premod $240 USD
Shipping $20 USD

Money Save $90

I have over 120 successful backups that i use with my swap magic discs. I have no idea what you all are talking about with your 3-4 swapping. I put in the SMD then swap to my backup. maybe 2 of my games require that I use DVDLoader, so 2 swaps on 2 games. I have not run into one game that I didnt eventually make work. I havent tried Burnout 3 yet. Sounds like I will have to though. And using swap magic does not run down your laser any faster than a modded chip does. Try and logically explain why it would. You are using the same hardware to run the same software. A modded chip will NOT take stress off the laser. If you want a good running laser get a V7+, but I have heard of problems with CD-R based games there. Premods can be expensive ranging up to 300+. Not that modded PS2s are bad, they are definitly superior in many cases, but not all. Online play can be a downfall for some mods. Also, many games will be picky about this mod or that mod, and there is no way to remedy that. Ive heard of many mod users that have SMDs on the side, just in case. Keep it all in mind, and good luck trying to run Street Fighter.

Guru also left out that Swap magic disc will not boot games alone. You need a Flip lid, no-solder mod or be a idiot and do the slide card swap.

There's a old saying that goes "A fool and his money will part". Get the idea ;) .

There is no way i would WASTE money on this when for $20 bucks i could get a Duo2se plus another $50 for install. Thats $220 bucks for a new console that will boot everything under the sun compaired to one that you must swap disc NTM doesnt play all games. The US version of "Street Fighter - Anniversary Edition" doesnt work properly on v1 to v6's and doesnt work at all on v7's and higher with the swap magic discs because the stupid menu uses multiple elf files. Some people have had limited success using cdloader or other combinations of swaps, but only with v6's and lower, and 3rd Strike still crashs at certain points. The only solution i found to this problem is to get the Jap version of 3rd Strike and the Pal version of Hyper Street Fighter 2, as both games are on seperate discs and work perfectly with the swap magic discs.

Exactly. By the time you've bought both of those separately you've paid for a Duo2 and install :) - if you'd rather not, then you'll have to stick to your original Street Fighter disc, won't you?

This post has gone far enough, If he isnt convinced by now to get a chip then he will just have to play the original. Thread closed.
