thanks
PS: one movie that didn't work was coytee ugly (lol my sisters movie)

DXC has gone down the sh1tter. It use to be all I used but it is nowhere near reliable as it once was. Can't even burn G04 with my A07 without it skipping. Switch to CloneDvd.

I use to have good success with DVD X Copy Express but I agree that wont work for many newer movies anymore.
After DXC quit working I switched to Intervideos DVD copy and had good success but then they upgraded to DVD copy 2 and things went downhill fast, Although the software could make Dvix files which worked good for storing on my laptop, I really miss that.
Then I bought (I Copy DVD's 2) and that seems to work O.K but my wife started using the DVD shrink 3.1 program I installed on her system and got me hooked on it also since her backups seemed to work better than my own on more DVD players. Oh yeah, and I know she dubbed Coyote Ugly with it becuase I remember watching that one not long ago.
So far I would have to say the freebie program called DVD Shink is the best I've ever used to date but I've never tried Clone DVD2 yet. I would really like to get my hands on a copy though.

Hey guys! Is Clone DVD2 better than DVD Shrink 3.2?

I personally like it better. I never liked the "degree style" encoding that DVD Shrink uses.

Clonedvd2 allows you to easily deselect what you dont want in the movie. I mainly head straight for the previews and deselect them. Then I take out the languages I dont want and subtitles. Usually leaving me with more than adequate space to encode a brilliantly looking movie.

DVDShrink, plus is freeware...

TylerDurden

Yeah I know but I still think it sucks enough for me to purchase CloneDVD2.

so tyler you say that dvdshrink sucks cause it's not so simple to deselect subtitles etc?does clonedvd2 make the movie fit onto a 4.7 dvd?is the quaity better than dvdshrink?

TylerDurden

All of my movies have been reduced down to a single layered dvdr. By deselecting the movie previews and sometimes the DTS audio. I get excellent quality rips.

well i don't want to deselect anything.is it a good quality?
well i could deselect any extras the dvd have

If you can do without movie previews then get rid of them. Youll have a very nice looking movie.

If you can do without movie previews and bonus features, youll wind up with an almost perfect (no or little compression) movie rip.

Its your call. For me as long as I get the movie in the upper yellow or green, in the slidebar Im good.

so basicaly it's the same as dvdshrink...
another question.if i remove subtitles bonus feats etc.the menu will remove the subtitles etc i deleted or they will be there but can't be selected?

TylerDurden

Its not the same as DVD Shrink! Its easier and less annoying. Dont put words in my mouth, I avoided your attempts to do so already.

No CloneDVD2 doesnt remove the options in the menu for bonus tracks and subtitles. They will still be there and you can select them. But for example if youve taken out the subtitles, and select them anyways there will not be any even though it is selected.

Maybe, but you gotta work with it more.

@Eakins, you gotta get Anydvd too. Or use DVDDecyrpter to decrypter your files first.

You need to rip the dvd to IFO's bud. :p

You need ANYDVD decrypter program, it automatically takes care of the copy protection.

Yes-
You need ANYDVD decrypter program. It works automatically! I have used CLonedvd 2, and Anydvd and my movie backups work great! I shopped around a little to find a new program....but keep going back to Clonedvd 2.

DVDDecrypter will also permanently remove regional coding and copy protection, when you rip the dvd to your hard drive. And yes, rip it in File mode, not iso.

Don't think you need anydvd unless you're trying to play different region discs than your drive will play. (i dont use it anyway!!)

Personally I use Pinnacle's Instant Copy... very good quality results, dead easy to use, if a little slow. Ive tried CloneDVD2 and yes it is simple and very quick, but its only a one pass encoder as far as i'm aware so you're sacrificing quality a bit. It's very noticible on the longer movies.Haven't used DVDShrink, but my mate uses it and raves about it and he's a bit of a perfectionist, so I may give it a try.

Just my 1/2 penny's worth :)

TylerDurden

Ill try Pinnacle as soon as I get a chance.

But with anydvd you dont have to rip to your hdd first which is a time eater. Just rip on the fly.

There is a programme called Anydvd which you should try to acquire from somewhere, most people who use CloneDVD2 have Anydvd running in the background, this is a small programme which removes all encryption on all movies to date and beyond...............to answer your question

WOW Deja vu

The main difference with CloneDVD2 is that you dont need to place it on your HD it can be put straight onto a disc and the temp files deleted once the movie is completed!!
this saves time and a lot of messing around trying to chase unused files around your comp.
the Clonedvd2 is a very flexible programme and i have used DVDshrink 3 beta but once i moved to Clonedvd2 there didnt seem to be much need for the dvdshrink programme at all the only movie i remember needing to shrink is 'Honey' because theres about 8 hours of extras!!!LOL

CloneDVD2 wins by miles every time.

Hey guys, long time no see.

Anyway, thats because I have been over at www.afterdawn.com

I did a bit of research over there and here is what i found, if you guys want the BEST quality you can get WITHOUT spending lots of $$$ or don't have time to do The Big 3.

Use DVD-RB/CCE (Basic only costs $58) it creates as good quality as you can get with one-click software on a single-layer DVD as possible. Here (http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_rebuilder_tutorial.cfm) is a guide for it
