ok well i live in canada and i have checked 2 of the local radioshacks and they dont carry flux paste or anything of that nature.whenever i search google it just gives me links to buy online, i just need to quickly run to some place buy, then go back. i have no idea what other retailers sell it. where else can i buy it?

hello, i just noticed something, the product on radioshack says that it is non-corrosive. so would it be fine if i just left it on the board without Q-Tipping it clean?

Always clean the excess flux after install. Why take the chance.

No because it is conductive :o

hmm well turns out i had some plumbing flux in the deep corners of my basement... but i am unsure if it is safe to use or not...

the brand is Kester
it is SP-30
The case is blue instead of black.
Its poisonous and extremly corrosive as it says on the circular case with all those pleasant crossbones and boney hands symbols.

Would it still be OK to use this as long as i clean it with alcohol, if so what percent alcohol should i use? 98%? I read the higher percentage=better.

I wouldn't use it. Just order the flux online. Better safe than sorry.

Just make sure you use some flux remover... :)

plumbing flux is very corrosive and shouldn't be used on electronics.

I’ve got electronics here that plumbers flux was used on them over 15 years ago that still work fine. Flux is corrosive, to your skin, not copper and soldering. If you use it properly that’s all it comes in contact with. Flux is not electrically conductive either.

Flux is not electrically conductive either.I've seen stuff to suggest otherwise...

well, i stuck my multimeter pins in a can of flux very close to eachother and it doesnt seem to conduct... it was very close. almost touching. and it was the plumbing flux. so i think the kind i have isnt conductive :) others ight have conductiv properties like sped said.
