Morning all,

I`ve spent the last couple of days reading a load of post on this group but i can`t seem to find a solution that works, so it would be great if some one could help me out.

As i say i`m newbie ish to this mod chiping thing, anyway i have a Version 1.0 Box with a SmartXX V2 chip and 120 GB drive in it, i`m running both Evox M8 and the latest X2 bois with either EvoX Dash or the Avalaunch Dash.

My problem would be that i`m having a less than 50% success rate when backing my games to the hard drive!

things like halo and second sight work fine, but PGR2 and burnout 3 try to boot and then return me to the dash?

I`m backing up games mainly with DVD2XBOX, but i have also tried complex tools and HDDLoader.

Does anyone know where i`m going wrong? because this is begining to annoy me!

Try using the latest version of dvd2xbox (5.9 i think) and make sure that your date and time are set correctly. This should fix most problems.

maybe a weak dvd laser? making errors in the rip?
it is a v1.0?
i use a smartxx v1 with avalaunch and no issues but also have a v1.6 box.

first, delete the game from the hdd completely. Then, use dvd2xbox to try and copy again.

However, when it finishes, look at the display. It should tell you files copied, patched, and failed.

The failed is what you want. Are there any files that have failed to copy? dvd2xbox will just display it there, and nowhere else. I have had that happen numberous times on original disks. The disks played fine, but copied badly. To fix it, I usually have to ftp to the xbox.

I first take note of how many files failed. Then, I connect to the xbox on both sides of the ftp windows. One side is set to D, and the other is the Game folder. There is an option to compare files and folders. Well, you have to go into every folder and do a "compare" seperately. It only compares files in the direcory you are in, not subfolders. After you find a file, transfer it to your PC, or try to transfer it directly from D to F, or whichever folder.

Deleted the game did the backup again using dvd2xbox and it said no files failed to copy!!!!! so check anyway on ftp compare and all seems fine. but the game will still not boot! it now hang when it tries to boot (before if kicked itself back to the dash)

Any other ideas????

again cheers to all for the help

I should have suggested to make sure that TRS is set to disabled, and IGR was set to no in the evox dash.
