I've read about dye's and Ritek dvd-r's from this forum, and I also read about darker dye's which leads me to my question. For the longest time I've been using sony dvd-r's (Silver face, ver. 2.0, 1x-4x and purple dye back) for regular movie use and they work very well. But I havent used them on a PS2 yet and I'm wondering if they will work without messing up the laser, its a v10 ps2.

As long as they're DARK purple, you should be perfectly OK. Riteks are the best though... :)

I dont like sony dvd-r. I am not saying they wont boot in the PS2, You can get backups to load on alot of different media. We recomend Ritec because they cause less stress on the laser and will help save it from a early grave ;)

The Sony DVD-R's, the new ones that come in the orange/black labeled cake box/spindle.

I have some laying around, thats why im asking.

I've used the sony -r 4x blank dvds with dark blue bottom and a white top and they work fine for me. I record with Alcohol 120%.

Shouldn't be a problem one bit..Little off the topic but I used them for Xbox Backups and it works like a Charm..
I have no opinion on Sony DVD-R's B/c they're 50/50 shot factor meaning I' buy them when they're on sale otherwise I stick with Ritek G04's..
Waiting on G05's when I receive my 2 Pioneer 108's.. :D

i have tried alot of dvd-rs like Sony, Fuji, Verbatim, Ritek, TDK, and only Memorex gave me problems. But my brother in law just bought me a 5 pack of Memorex dvd-r and they have been working fine....so far :D
