Not yet, I have seen that thread already though. The scene is now dubbing it the V11.

Exactly what i was going to say...but by the time that they start playing up (3 to 4 years down the line) we'll be too wrapped up in the PS3.

3-4 years! Well, you’re optimistic. Considering some models history of barely make it past their 90 day warranties!! I remember talking with a Manager of a large retail chain where they had over 90% returns on PS2’s one season, a few years back.

and I think 3-4 years for PS3 is also optimistic - with the way Sony are framing

Wow...90% what versions were these? It must have been a dodgy batch.

My fist PS2 (v3) lasted 4 years until it started getting DRE but that was because it needed a manual clean and no prblems so far, except it won't read DVD-Backup's. But i aint bothered about backups on that as i have another modded PS2.

lufcfan you maybe right with me being optimistic about the release of the PS3....it seems like there is no news of it whatsoever...Sony have made a good ploy, to get the people off there backs by introducing people with the PSP, therefore thats the latest craze. But i want a PS3 now damnit... :D

Someone tested it not so good news i'm afraid. I had one of those new V11.
I modded this with Infinity chip. I even did the romeo mode since I was unsure about the fact that Sony had fixed th LA problem.
But guess what, the PS2 stoped reading anything even originals 1 week after install. Maybe the romeo chip had something to do with it.

Thats what I was wondering too.

hmm maybe beacause of this new laser. It may be sending to much current to the laser blowning it or its not enuf and thus not working.

Well, with sony being the cheap skates they are, i doubt this laser is any better than the other poor ones. Never mind....X box 2 soon!!

Never mind....X box 2 soon Completely agree. I won't buy another Sony, that is for sure...

I would be lieing to say i wouldnt buy a new PS2 if needed or PS3 when available. I must also agree that the PS2 is getting cheaper and cheaper quality wise.
Instead of spending billions on creating new more powerful console's why not give us a quality laser that will last and concentrate on making a few Quality games that will actually push the limits of the consoles we already have.

yep ^.

But maybe they should re-release PS2 with a better graphics card etc, to top Xbox, as the ps3 will have more but will be like £400 when it comes out, n V1 are always crap.

Ill be getting a ps3.

BTW H|LLJD00,

Is it gonna be H|LLJD00 or PS2_Mad? You only get one choice. ;)

What I would like to see would be a console that has a Laser drive bay similar to that on a PC's drive bay which the user could swap out with a new drive when it wears out easily. But this will never happen because of warranty issues.
