I know this has been adderssed before but things are always getting better I thought we might touch on it again. Please guys, tell me how, if at all, you all improve your video/audio output to the TV. Are there certain hook-ups or cables that are best to be using? Thanks.

First make sure all connections are secure tightly, then I was told by a cable dude, to make sure no cables and power wires overlap/crisscross. This is a classic interference fix. As for the periphials, use a standard rf modulator switch if you have several devices hooked to one tv.(stand alone dvd player, vcr, other gaming consoles, etc....) Some times the whole problem is just very slight interference in the signal somewhere. I have a PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Stand Alone DVD player and VCR all on one tv. Every time i neatly run the wiring as not to cross or overlap this has always worked for me. IF this does not fix the problem then you may have a bad cable. To trouble shoot this just use one device at a time to see where the problem is. Another problem could be a device itself but less likely than a simple cable interference prob. Hope this helps! ;)

While I did pick up some tips anyway (so thanks) I was really looking to find the best hook-up. Should I use the "digital out" on the PS2 or I remeber hearing about replacing the a/v cabl that comes with the system with something else for the ultimate video. Thanks

I use the digital outs on mine and as long as the previously posted info is followed, you should be fine. If anyone else has different success in this area, let us know but this does work for me! ;)

I have used component cables for my ps2...picture looks sweet as. i use the digital out for sound...that's nice

but on my other tv and ps2...it's the normal AV cable provided with the ps2...the picture is alright..but i think it's time i get a new cable because the sound is really pissing me off (sometimes the sound won't go through the surround unit properly - sound is stronger on one side...) i've noticed that touching the cable usually fixes the problem

but on the hand crazygamelover has covered everything. One other thing, make sure you're got alot of slack in the cable, in my experience not having enough slack wrecks the cable

Years ago, with my old playstation 7501, I had a homemade RGB cable to an RGB monitor. Outstanding picture quality, every pixel sharp and clear as could be and the colors were intense! Any television using composite video input would be dull and blurry in comparison. I’d love to get myself another set with RGB component inputs. I’ve never compared RGB to Svideo but I’ve been told RGB is best and the cables are definitely better. Any time you have 2 or more wires running along side each other with no RF shielding between them you get what they call sheathe current interference. Current running in a wire will induce a current in a parallel wire. This is a good thing if your wrapping transformers, motors or subwoofer coils, this is a bad thing if your running video, audio or data communication cables. It’s also a very bad thing when running my Magic V modchip wires, I find the chips work better if you don’t run the wires neatly together.
