hmm its pritty easy. Right so you have the inside modchip all hooked up yep? and there are yellow cables attatched to a lil chip on the back of the xbox correct?
It should have a place where u plug a usb cable into to flash the xbit. Right once thats connected up to the xbox and to the pc its time to flash the chip.
go on this site for the app u need to flash the bios http://www.dms3.com/cgi-bin/xbit/site.pl?page=home

http://www.mod-chip.com/xbit_transfer_software.htm
i started up the xbit flash tool. made the connection to my xbox, selected to format, picked the requried configuration. but then it sez select a valid bios according to you configuration....wot does that mean.
im really lost.

you need to get a valid bios such as x2 bios and it has to be the correct size to fit in the specific slot. you can choose betweena 256 512 and 1mb bios the xbit has 2 mb room to store your bios so you should prob get the cromwell bios and the x2 bios for reasons im not aloud to tell you where to get this sept cough *xbins*

as said above, cromwell is horrible, but is not meant for games anyways. I suggest the same bios as AX.
Hope you can wait your next 11 or so days AXmichigan, nice to see you are getting better.

if hes got 2 1mb bioses why not just have a linux bios and a x2 one I would only do that if you ran linux. Otherwise, something like the debug bios would be more usefull. At least that way, you can make screenshots of the games.

put turn it on
make sure the bios boots
turn it off
turn it back on by pressin eject

the situation after nearly 2 yrs....no further.
i gave what you sed a go after a long break. this is the status.
1. installed and checkd the chip was in the right place (chking control points in diagram)
2. connected the chip to the computer via usb and flashed with configuration of x4
3. formated and wrote binary file EvolutionX 2.0 (1024, selected 1mb partition)
4. put the files of (default.xbe, evox.ini, bios folder and skins folder). tried with configuration of harddrive f:\ and e:\ (as it sed it needs to be changed if there is a second harddrive. i have two harddrive looking parts in mine xbox, so wasnt sure, so did both)
5. tried with both DVD+RW and CDRW...conclusion.....i get the default microsoft dashboard and the error, disk not recognised.
whats gone wrong, i followed everything step by step, but still end up here....AXmichigan or n e 1...any help?!!?!

i'm kind of new at this so i have a couple of questions. i had a friend that put a xbit chip in my xbox and loaded all the bios for me. i added a second HDD to my xbox. the HDD i'm using now is a 80 gig, and the new one is a 120 gig. do i need to get seperate bios to use the second HDD. i'm not even really sure what bios i'm using. i have all the wires ready for the second HDD but havn't hooked it up yet. can someone please help me.

Do you have an HDD switch, or ar you replacing the 80 gig drive with the one you have?
The bios you have is fine. You just need to unlock the current 80gig drive from the eeprom so the new drive can be used. After the 80 gig drive is unlocked, you insert the new drive and partition it. The EvolutionX dashboard can unlock the drive for you. It can also partition it.
You have to:
1. backup the current drive
2. unlock the hdd
3. swap drives
4. load evox or other application that can manage the HDD
5. partition the drive
6. send the backed-up files to the new drive
i have a hdd switch. so right now i'm running the 80 gig and want to hook the 120 gig up as a backup, cuz i'm running out of space. what should i do?

Well, then, switch to the 120gig drive and use evox to format the drive. You will need to backup the C partition of the 80gig drive so the 120gig drive will have a dashboard.
Format: http://xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-ftp.php
You can search the net for "slayers evox auto-installer". It is a version of evox that will format and restore new and old hard-drives easily.
so i can just plug the 120 gig in, and switch to it and format it? will a menu show up to show me how to format the drive and unlock or lock (whatever is needed). is there a easier way to install a dashboard, instead of backing up partition C. and how would i backup partition C if thats the only thing i can do.
another question i have is if i can get newer bios? cuz the evox auto installer needs the latest bios i guess. and i assume the bios are really old cuz i've had the box for like a year or so. in my bios check it says its slayer's evox and dash version +3921, what is +3921?:

The bios are fine, someone just modifed the hash of the ini or the bios in the past. Why do you think slayers needs a newer bios flashed to the chip? You get some odd message?
A menu may or may not show up (other than the dashboard). It depends on the method. You may or may not need to backup the C partition. I already answered both of your questions in my last 2 posts.

quall's still my boy

You should have loaded up evox or compliant software, formatted the drive, and re-installed all the software/files that you backed up from your original drive.
You have to:
1. backup the current drive
2. unlock the hdd
3. swap drives
4. load evox or other application that can manage the HDD
5. partition the drive
6. send the backed-up files to the new drive
