what program exactly are you using, what happens exactly (does it erorr make a bad burn ect.), and what media are you using?

ive tried with anydvd & clonedvd2, with dvdshrink, with alchol 120, dvd decrypter... the burner is a sony dru 510a the problem is always the same with each program, during the reading process it gets stuck saying that there's an error somethin like, cyclic radunancy, then it says the dvd might be dirty but its brand new, not even finger prints on it so i exclude that one, probably protected, woddya think?

Its the first time i cant backp a dvd

does it play all the way through in a dvd player? may have been a bad disc

No, in the player its fine, im sure its protected in nasty way, you gotta try guyz, i could be a new important post!!! When everyone thought they cud backup anything, here it is! Passion of the Christ UNBACKUPABLE, unbelievable huh?

Its not a problem. Some discs have little warps or errors on them that even though they look fine the disc is a bit messed up. I would try and take back the disc at least for an exchange for the same disc.

Just tell them it doesnt play on your PC.

Plus Im betting the new one you get will back up no problems.

A new copy protection may be in use afterall. I tried Blind Write 5, the newest version, and it has settings for Bad Sectors, and viola! It worked.

Well, here i am, i made it but there's a problem...
The deadly combination was anyDVD runnin in background and Blindwrite 5 did its job which means now i have a blindwrite image file of the movie but i dunno how to write it on the dvd cuz this type of image, with the file extension B5T its not recognized by any of the software i usually use like dvd shrink and the only possible option is to use Blindwrite also to write but it hasnt got the compression option and my dvd its dvd5 so wot can i do now?

Supposedly the newest version of ANYDVD (3921) has the ability to override this protection. You may want to update and try that instead of Blindwrite.

You can also try ISOBuster (I bellieve it works with Blindwrite images), and extract all the files to another directory, aft that, you should be able to use dvd shrink or any other transcoding software to browse for the dvd root, and direct it to where you extracted the files.

I just verified it. IFOBuster version 1.6.0.19 does allow extraction from Blindwrite image files, so there you have it. Let me know if you try this and whether you are successful or not, thanks.

well, i finally made it, blindwrite extract the image, it took it a while towards the end where i suppose these kind of protections were, a while i mean like couple of hours to finish reading the last 5% despite i have not a pretty bad cpu(amd 3200). After that i had this image in Bindwrite format which i afrerwards converted (like you suggested with ultraiso) in an normal iso format image; after that i thought i could simply use either clonedvd or shrink dvd writing the iso image on the dvd after letting them compress it to fit it on a dvd5 but here's wot happened: clonedvd, i choose "copy dvd" i select the iso file i go to the next step the compressing process starts and after about 1 min it fails, i dont remember exactly wot i said but something like i shoukd redo the operation from the hard drive, despite i was already doing it from the hard drive...
Then i tried with shrink dvd and when i chose to open an image from the file menu i wouldnt let me open it saying that the iso was damaged or something:
Well, when i thought everything was lost i run ultraiso again, opened the B5T image (which i had created before with blind write) so that i could see the video_ts and audio folder, selected them both and then right click and extract to specified folder. After that with shrink dvd i press "open files" browsed the folder where both video_ts and audio are and managed to burn it.

It was a real mess for me to make this backup maybe for someone else would have been a lot easier but i hope i can spare someof troubles with this post.

What profile did you run Blindwrite in to get it to rip? Did you manage to find a ring profile for it? Or just automatic?

taggiascoz

the profile was automatic but i had anyDVD running, sorry i forgot before, without anydvd running i coldnt do it, the "read" button was greyed out, but with anydvd started it was fine on automatic profile

The easiest thing to do would be just to delete the audio stream. That is if you dont need it.

Interesting that a film about the "Son of God" is giving people problems :)

Ok, I just bought and backed up Passion of the Christ without problems. Im using AnyDVD 3.9.2.1 and CloneDVD2 2.4.2.7. I didnt even have to use Blindwrite or any other program to rip this movie. Easy as pie and only took 31 minutes to rip and burn.

I guess ol' Jesus knows better than to mess with the likes of Tyler!

This movie is backupable.

I bought Van Helsing today and thanx Tyler you saved me a lot of messing around and also helped me to keep my coaster count down! For everyone else do just as Tyler Durden said! It was as simple as and only took 30-35 minutes!
P.s: I do relize the thread was about 'Passions of Christ' but hey when others follow the other posts/threads to here it may save a lot of unneccasary questions! And just for the record I also succeeded doing it with Blindwrite (the latest version) but it was no where near as quick as Tylers method!

P.s.s: I dont usually backup my DVD's but after reading all the fuss about this new protection I just had to give it a go! Plus my kids enjoyed this movie (yes thats right I let my kids watch it) and they tend to flog a movie they like to death! And as my kids are only 10 and 7 years old I wasnt going to take the chance of letting them scratch the original! Even though they are well educated in handling game discs and have never damaged/scratched one yet!

I have decrypted original DVD using DVDDecripter 3.5.1.0 (files method) and after I have burned files on Verbatim DVD+R DL Media with my
Pioneer DRV-108 at 4X.
Copy works fine on several PC Drive and standalone reader. :)

It is to run DVD-washer with in input the files created with DVDDecripter 3.5.1.0: this program read and write only good files and so output files take only about 3,95GB and they fit, without need to compress, in a DVD-5.

Go(o)d Bye.

I used DVDDecripter 3.5.1.0 and burned it to HP 4X media using Instant Copy 8 with an NEC 2500A burner. NTSC version of the movie
No issues, no problems.

Are you people having issues trying to do the NTSC or PAL version?

I used ANYDVD and CloneDVD2 to burn my copy of PAssion of the Christ. Email me if u have any problems.

:eek: -----====Big Tip====----- :eek:

The best way to burn exact copy's of DVD's is to use a LAPTOP.

1. laptop- 1300mhz on up, P3 on up, 12gigs of free space
2. External DVD Burner
3. AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 :D

Yes They have made it slightly harder for us with this one haven't they. really all you can do is if youre like me and running anydvd with clonedvd2 then you have to add all menus and audio streams and remember about the subtitles. i'm not sure if anyone realises this but the subtitles sometimes dissapear around the time in the film where jesus is getting whipped??
Rather annoying for us BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE BY FAR. just a little tricky
In actual fact i have honestly just thought of this just now, each film i backed up after this one had trouble with surround sound default settings and audio problems, hmmm strange coincidence??
Lion King in Surround sound 5 channel as default, sure all i have to do is find the audio button on my remote but this may be too much for other people to grasp, know what i mean.
Van helsing was no problem at all.
