I have a question reguarding xp and when it boots drivers. Since I built my PC, I have been having a small problem when I boot it up. When I start my PC, it goes to the operating system selection screen. After I choose to boot up xp, (i made 2 choices, xp, and then xp with a boot log), the screen goes black for about a minute before continuing to the bootup logo. Everything seems to work fine after I boot up xp.

Anyways, I looked in the boot log to see the drivers that did not load. Well, is there any easy way to sort out which drivers I actually needed? Here is a snippet from the bootlog containing the ones that failed.

Loaded driver \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\kmixer.sys
Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Fastfat.SYS
Service Pack 2 8 27 2004 12:54:48.500
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\NDProxy.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\lbrtfdc.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Sfloppy.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\i2omgmt.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Changer.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Cdaudio.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\kbdhid.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\processr.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\PCIDump.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\rdbss.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\mrxsmb.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\WBHWDOCT.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\ipnat.sys

Is there any specific reason why, that sometimes the drivers folder is capitalized in those paths?
btw, i don't have a floppy drive and have disabled it in the bios. Any help would be appreciated.

i made up some different xp start-up and log-in screens and when i load with them (xp boot screen) it stops at a blk screen for a bit then loads up my homemade xr boot and log in screens.. but when i boot normal (xp OS) it works as normal.. if u are running a special boot screen that may just take more time to load.. if it bothers u that much just load the normal xr operating system!

u can try pressing F8 when it starts so it loads on safemode, once in, reinstall all the drivers and go to msconfig and choose what to load.

The same thing happened with the original boot screen. As soon as xp was installed it did this. It never really bothered me until rescenty. Has almost been a year.

Well, safe mode takes a while to boot as well. I will try what you said lucifer.

lol, i know it was Luciel, I was just playing around. Everytime I see your name, I think of lucifer for some reason. I couldn't resist any longer.

Anyways, i have been turning my 1h37min 26gb avi (wtf) capture file into a <700mb vcd, so I haven't had time to try anything it out.
