I woke up this morning and turned on my ps2 which i was playing the night before and pressed the reset button which had my backup of madden 2005 in it. I was then sent to the red screen on ever attempt. Ive used this backup many times and never had a problem. What could it possibly be??? Thanks for your help.

sounds most likly like a solder point has become lose/bridged!! how long has it been in for? also its possible your laser is dirty/dieing.. try running a lens cleaner through it!

Ok. I'll try it. I forgot to mention though that my origonal game loads and plays with no problem.

i would still try cleaning the laser, because orignals are easier to read than backups.. also check ur backup.. maybe run it thorugh gameDR. or try cleaning it up a bit!

Do any other back-ups work or is just that one back-up not working?

ok, try booting a dvd movie.
Right do like Warlock has suggested and try and boot a DVD movie with the Messiah is PSX mod. The reason we are asking you to try and boot PSX games and DVD movies is because the messiah needs very few wires to boot both and if it will boot either of them in PSX mod this will rule out two things, if its the chip or the laser.
If it will boot a PSX back-up the laser is able to read back-up media still (at least CD-R media anyway) and the chip is working. What may be the issue then is that one of the wires required for PS2 booting may have come loose.
If you can boot a DVD movie in PSX mode it will simply verify chip is working.
Post your results when you can.

I played a dvd and it worked.
Did you boot from PSX mode or did you just insert the dvd, close the tray and it loaded?

I put it in PSX mode
If it boots from PSX mode then i would check for a loose wire, odds are one came loose.
